But at Cutrone Hair & Bar- bershop, 3118 W. 111th St., old school doesn’t mean old- fashioned; it means classic barbering for men and boys with a modern outlook. Its sleek modern facade may not look like the front of a business that is celebrating 40 years of service to the com- munity, but inside, the staff has the experience that peo- ple would expect from such a well-established business. John Cutrone, a master barber, established John’s Barbershop in 1973 in the same location on 111th Street in Mt. Greeenwood. He built the business based on treat- ing people with respect and giving them great haircuts. During his 40 years, he has served thousands of custom- ers. His skills and talents def- initely represent old school. In 2006, his son, Antonio Cutrone, saw an opportu- nity to update the classic barbershop. He remodeled the existing barbershop and expanded, adding a Men’s Haircutting Academy. His hip, sophisticated outlook brings new school to the fam- ily business of Cutrone Hair & Barbershop. Together, the father and son offer a full-service bar- bershop providing 10 chairs for men’s haircuts with neck shaves and beard trims, as well as boy/child haircuts and buzz cuts. John and Antonio have assembled a great group of barbers over the years. They have years of experience and share the same philosophy of outstanding customer service that the owners have followed for four decades. On staff are John Noto with 19 years experience in bar- bering and shaving; Rafeala Lopez, 19 years experience barbering; Dan Johnson, 12 years experience barbering; Josh Czarney, 10 years ex- perience barbering and shav- ing; Sandra Brongel, 10 years experience barbering; Maria Garcia, 10 years barbering; and Mike Andiorio, 4 years experience barbering. Each haircut begins with a consultation, followed by a hot lather, neck shave, an eyebrow trim and a styling lesson to complete the expe- rience. The shop also offers hot-lather shaves. Customers will enjoy this forgotten art which is a multi-step process using hot towels, premier facial products and a steady hand with a blade. Its knowledge of the in- dustry has allowed Cutrone Hair & Barbershop’s Men’s Haircutting Academy to offer men’s advanced haircutting classes and to be certified to give continuing education hours through the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. New center for Little You to open in Mt. Greenwood When a local mother no- ticed that her son was some- times “tripping” on his words, she wondered if he had a speech problem. Luckily, she found a local professional for answers to questions about her son. And after spending time at Little You, Inc., in Mt. Greenwood, she and her son have new- found confidence in the fu- ture. Founded by Betsy Low- ery, a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist who has been in practice for 18 years, Little You, 3652 W. 111th St., offers Speech, Developmental and Occupa- tional Therapy. Little You offers both in- dividual and group therapy services where the staff fo- cuses on improving the lan- guage, motor and pragmatic (social) skills of the children they serve. And while dealing with such problems is important to the future intellectual and social development of a child, sessions at Little You are de- signed with kids in mind. “At Little You, we love to have fun!” said Betsy. “Most of our sessions are play-based; however, we do incorporate various amounts of structure to our sessions so that we can produce the results needed. We have the experience, clin- ical knowledge and capability to produce results from even the most challenging cases.” Betsy attended the Univer- sity of Illinois at Champaign/ Urbana for her undergradu- ate studies and Governors State University for gradu- ate school. She founded Little You in 2007 with the idea that a company based on quality, performance and integrity would grow into an industry leader with a reputation for outstanding work. And given the growth of her business, it’s obvious she has achieved her objective. Little You, Inc., has grown from a company with one speech therapist to currently employing 19 speech, occu- pational and developmental therapists, as well as support staff. Even more exciting for lo- cal kids is Little You’s “The Gym,” which as well as being part of its therapy services offers open gym time Monday through Friday. Although, her facility across from Mt.
