Autumn is a second spring when everyleaf is a flower.

By Jessica Rosario

It is hard to believe it is been 7 months since I last wrote this section… I will not dwell on the past for too long but want to thank our wonderful volunteers who helped us keep our outreach program going throughout these months! I also want to thank our members for your patience and understanding as we continue to test the waters and expand our programming while following state and county guidelines. We are here because of you and are grateful to see so many of you back at the center! We also understand that not everyone is able to or feels comfortable to return to regular activities, and we hope that we get to see you soon. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your life happier and healthier!

We are thrilled to almost be back to a pre-COVID schedule and will continue to do our best to keep the facility clean and safe. Although we realize that you are eager to return to your daily routine, we ask that you follow rules regarding quarantine and wearing facemasks. Most of all please do NOT come to the center if you do not feel well. With our high-risk population, we have to be extra careful and

mindful of those around us. After several years of thinking about it, we can finally say that we are offering Ballroom Dancing! See flyer for more information. We also plan to add a Dancercise class, which uses a Line Dancing format to teach steps to several Latin dances, such as Cha Cha, Samba and Merengue. Don’t miss this fun class!

I could go on and on about how great it is to see all your happy faces again, but I will try to keep this short so you can read about all the great things that are coming up.

Stay Active and Stay Healthy!

Sincerely, Jessica RosarioExecutive Director

BALANCE & STRENGTHThis class is recommended for members with concerns about balance and loss of upper and lower body strength. Focus will be on functional fitness as well as balance and strength.Free to all members

BALLET BARREThe exercises build gradually, are safe and can be performed by anyone. Muscles become toned and lengthened, posture is improved, and movement becomes more graceful as the student becomes more aware of his/her body.

CARDIO & STRENGTHAn engaging class dedicated to strengthening the body, increasing coordination and balance, and making you feel healthier and fit! Great for active older adults and those new to working out.

Health & Wellness Classes

SILVERSNEAKERS CLASSICIncrease muscle strength and range of movement, and improve activities for daily living. You’ll have a chair for seated exercises and standing support.

EASY PACEMild to moderate joint involvement. 20 minutes of cardio, marching in place, basic arm and leg movement patterns. Improves muscle strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and balance.

LINE DANCINGLine Dancing is choreographed to a variety of music with repeating series of steps that are performed in unison. Learn some fancy footwork while challenging your mind to memorize these fun sequences.

ZUMBA GOLD Zumba is a dance-fitness class that is set to zesty Latin music like salsa, merengue, mambo, etc. Zumba Gold modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant.

YOGA MIXEDSlow flowing class of gentle stretching and physical postures using breath to connect mind and body. This is an excellent way for improving flexibility, balance and great for de-stressing.

RESTORATIVE YOGAA therapeutic style of yoga which utilizes props to make it easier for the body to get into certain poses. The focus of this class is relaxation, renewal, effortlessness, ease and a completely supportive environment.

ZUMBA TONINGZumba Toning is perfect for those who like Zumba, but want to put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting to define those muscles. The challenge of adding resistance by using toning sticks (or light weights), helps you focus on specific muscle groups, so your muscles stay engaged.

GYM CLASSAvoid boredom and plateau while improving strength. Join the instructor as they take you through a variety of exercises for a complete workout. Get comfortable using circuit equipment as well as resistance bands, medicine balls, free weights, etc.

“Exercise not only changes your body, it changes your mind, your

attitude, and your mood.”

We want to send a big Thank You to all the volunteers and community members that have helped the Center for the last 6 months during the COVID pandemic. Volunteers helped with Meals on Wheels, Pet food delivery, grocery delivery, lunch pick-ups, Center maintenance, lawn care, misc. projects, phone calls to members, and various other projects. We couldn’t have kept the Center going and serving our members without the volunteers’ help. We truly appreciate you!
