Dolly Parton’s rendi-tion of Jolene, Heidenreich, a former Woodland teacher who now works for the Pasco School District in administra-tion, led an off-key sing-a-long for a couple of hundred teach-ers and coworkers.

“It was nice having every-

one sing to me,” Reed said of that audience number.

Later, Reed turned the ta-bles by getting former princi-pal Randall Belcher to hold up a cue card for a comical rendi-tion of Happy Trails by the six retirees.

The half-dozen retirees were also given Star Polish-er trophies from Poe. She has handed out the bronze figu-

rines to retirees after each of her three years, she said, be-cause they “have had a chance to touch the lives of children.”

Former Woodland princi-pal Steve Rinck offered a few words of wisdom for the out-going school employees.

“This is a joyous occa-sion,” he said, adding that re-tirement “is something to look forward to.”
