ZEPHYRHILLS • 788-2511 archived from meetings and accessible on an as- needed basis. “That will be fabulous for folks trying to ed- ucate themselves about the city,” Wilkeson said. For the meetings, eight recycled laptops pre- viously used by the Zephyrhills Police will be set up for council members, the mayor, the city man- ager and city attorney with all the documents normally printed and included in a packet. “It will be a big cost savings, environmen- tally friendly and it will be a win-win for every- body,” Smith said. “It will take a little adjust- ment, but once it’s going they will love it.” In preparation for this proposal, Spina looked into the practices of Dade City and Pasco County, who also use paperless agendas. Dade City implemented the program a year ago. City Attorney Joe Poblick reported that he took part in a recent Dade City Commission meeting and thought the process made every- thing more efficient. “It was great,” Poblick said. “It couldn’t have been any easier.” The city also agreed that it is in the process of consolidating its utility billing from three cy- cles to one in order to make a progressive move to accept online bill payments. Spina reported that online billing and credit card payments could begin in early 2011. “We are way behind the times on this,” Wil- keson said. Spina added, “We’re taking baby steps. I agree we’re behind the times with what’s out there. We’re trying to get there.” CITY: From Page 1A “I think they have a perception of what it used to be like,” Collins said. “They were look- ing for big machines and paper (rolls).” The Cub Scouts tour stemmed from being part of numerous requirements for a Tiger badge. They had to choose between visiting a newspa- per office, television station or radio station. They opted for The Zephyrhills News. Wilcox said the choice to tour the newspaper was made, in part, “because it’s local. We try to get them to learn about our community.” Upon their arrival, Smith and his brother Zachary, brothers Chase, Gage and Evan But- ler, Dakota Holloway and Price were handed personalized mock press passes to keep. Dur- ing their visit they were informed about such el- ements as editorial content (stories and pictures), advertising and production. The boys, ranging from first-graders to fifth- graders from Woodland and Chester W. Taylor elementary schools, also got to hold the heavy archive binders that contain a year’s worth of newspapers. “They said that they worked there for the day,” Wilcox said. SCOUTS: From Page 1A In celebration of National Credit Union Youth Week, San Antonio Citizens Federal Credit Union promoted a Coloring Contest to their Youth members. Jill Evans, VP of Marketing presented all of the winners with their choice of a piggy bank or sling bag, with first-place winners also receiving the 2007 Inaugural Year Collection of $1 Presidential Coins. archived from meetings and accessible on an as-needed basis.

“That will be fabulous for folks trying to ed-ucate themselves about the city,” Wilkeson said.

For the meetings, eight recycled laptops pre-viously used by the Zephyrhills Police will be set up for council members, the mayor, the city man-ager and city attorney with all the documents normally printed and included in a packet.

“It will be a big cost savings, environmen-tally friendly and it will be a win-win for every-body,” Smith said. “It will take a little adjust-ment, but once it’s going they will love it.”

In preparation for this proposal, Spina looked into the practices of Dade City and Pasco County, who also use paperless agendas. Dade City implemented the program a year ago.

City Attorney Joe Poblick reported that he took part in a recent Dade City Commission meeting and thought the process made every-thing more efficient.

“It was great,” Poblick said. “It couldn’t have been any easier.”

The city also agreed that it is in the process of consolidating its utility billing from three cy-cles to one in order to make a progressive move to accept online bill payments.

Spina reported that online billing and credit card payments could begin in early 2011.

“We are way behind the times on this,” Wil-keson said.

Spina added, “We’re taking baby steps. I agree we’re behind the times with what’s out there. We’re trying to get there.”

“I think they have a perception of what it used to be like,” Collins said. “They were look-ing for big machines and paper (rolls).”

The Cub Scouts tour stemmed from being part of numerous requirements for a Tiger badge. They had to choose between visiting a newspa-per office, television station or radio station. They opted for The Zephyrhills News.

Wilcox said the choice to tour the newspaper was made, in part, “because it’s local. We try to get them to learn about our community.”

Upon their arrival, Smith and his brother Zachary, brothers Chase, Gage and Evan But-ler, Dakota Holloway and Price were handed personalized mock press passes to keep. Dur-ing their visit they were informed about such el-ements as editorial content (stories and pictures), advertising and production.

The boys, ranging from first-graders to fifth-graders from Woodland and Chester W. Taylor elementary schools, also got to hold the heavy archive binders that contain a year’s worth of newspapers.

“They said that they worked there for the day,” Wilcox said.
