PackagingAn inquiry unit by 1M
TUNING IN The children of 1M tried to define What is packaging?
By asking themselves ‘’what they already know?’’
William:
“Packaging goes
around stuff”
Amelia:
“It protects the thing
inside”
Daniel:
“It’s what you get
when you buy a
product”
Maddie:
“It keeps things
clean”
Marco:
“It stops things
getting dirty or
breaking”
Finding Out
1M bought in some packages
from home.
They then decided to sort
them out by the material they
were made of.
There was a lot of sorting to do! IM
seperated the materials into 3 separate
piles. Plastic, Cardboard/paper and other.
The other pile included glass, cotton and
tin.
Collecting the Data
Once we had sorted the materials into
piles we then decided to see which
material was most popular. We created a
bar graph on the whiteboard to collect
the data.
As it was coming up to Easter we noticed a lot of Easter Packaging in the
shops
We brainstormed some of the ways that Easter Eggs were packaged.
SORTING OUT
We decided that we would design
our own Easter Egg Packaging
1M thought of many
different ways that we
could use less packaging
every day.
It is now up to them to do that
every chance they get.
