Thank you for choosing Witbox. Before using your 3D printer, please read this Quick Start Guide carefully.

GETTING STARTED

Unpackaging

Your bq Witbox printer comes in safety packaging to protect it during transportation. The printer head is fixed in place with packing materials that will require removal. You will also need to place the print base inside the printer before using it. Carefully lift the bq Witbox and its components out of their original packaging.

Operation

The bq Witbox fabricates solid objects using digital files via FFF (fused filament fabrication) technology.

3D design files are converted into digital instructions and sent to the bq Witbox via the USB cable (connected to a PC), or alternatively via the SD card that comes with the unit.

The bq Witbox heats the filament and extrudes it layer by layer through the cooling chamber until the object is completed.

LCD screen

When you switch on the bq Witbox the LCD screen will display information regarding the status of the printer, the temperature, the project or file name, etc.

Next to the LCD screen is the control wheel that allows you to access the printer menu. Press the wheel and turn it to the left or to the right in order to scroll through the various options. Choose an option by pressing the wheel.

Filament Spool

The box also contains a spool of filament. Place the spool on the rear of the printer, as shown below:

Cut the end of the filament with scissors to enable it to pass through the tube. Feed the filament in manually until you feel it touch the end.

When the filament is in place, press the wheel and go to Control > Filament > Load.

Power Supply/Switching On

In the box you will also find the power cable. Insert it into the socket located at the back of the printer near the bottom.

Connect the other end of the cable to the mains socket and then switch on your Witbox.

Make sure the printer switch is in the Off position before connecting the power cable to the mains.

START PRINTING IN 3D

Levelling the print base

The Witbox is comprehensively calibrated and tested at the factory. To start printing 3D objects you must place the print base inside the printer.

To position and level the print base, first place it inside the printer.

Then press the control wheel and go to Control > Level plate. The extruder will position itself at three different points around the print base. For each point you will have to adjust the screw (located underneath the print base) in order to raise or lower the base.

The distance between the extruder nozzle and the print base must be equivalent to the thickness of a sheet of paper; i.e. there should be just enough room to pass a sheet of paper between the nozzle and the base.

When you have adjusted the first levelling point, press the control wheel in order to adjust the other two.

Printing a Sample Object via the SD Card

The box also contains an SD card with a number of sample 3D models.

Insert the card into the corresponding slot on your bq Witbox and go to the Print from SD. option via the main menu. Select the object you wish to print. The printer will begin by carrying out a referencing process, before heating the filament and starting to print.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Please observe these safety precautions when using your Witbox.

· Do not use cables, connectors or plugs that are damaged or loose. Do not bend or damage the power cable, touch it with wet hands or pull on it in order to unplug the printer.

· Witbox reaches high temperatures and has moving parts that are capable of causing injury when in operation. Do not touch any part of the interior of the printer or the extruder while it is printing, as they may be extremely hot.

· If you need to access the interior of your Witbox, please observe the following:

- Make sure the printer is fully switched off; i.e. the switch is in the Off position and the power cable is unplugged from the mains.

- Leave the printer to cool if it has been used recently.

- Close the safety door at the front while the printer is being used, and keep it shut when the unit is not being used.

· Do not knock the bq Witbox or allow it to fall. Do not connect any cables to it that have not been approved by the manufacturer.

· Use caution when handling and disposing of consumables.

· Keep the bq Witbox switched off in potentially explosive environments and in the presence of flammable chemical products. Always observe the safety rules, instructions and warning notices.

· Make sure that any small objects you print, or any potentially dangerous parts, are kept out of the reach of children.

· Do not store or transport flammable liquids or gases in the same container as the bq Witbox or any of its parts or accessories.

· Supervise the printing process while the bq Witbox is in operation.
