PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE…

Happy Valentine Day!!! I hope everyone is able to enjoy the holiday with their special people! We had a great time at January Paint In with Onya leading us through the pencil box design with some variations to try to enhance our projects! Thank you so much, Onya! This month I will be teaching the eagle on the feather – it really is a fun and easy process. I will have extra feathers ready to be painted or purchased. I will

also have some stands for purchase should you want those. I hope to see a lot of you there for a fun and easy day.

Thank you to Linda Silvasy for leading us through some Guidelines for our meetings – we are all here as volunteers to enjoy the experience of Painting with our friends! Each of us adds to our Chapter new ideas and different ways to do things so I hope all can trust and support that each of us has the PCA Chapter as our main focus and goal to grow and participate. We do need everyone to join together in participating in the Paint Ins or on committees or with suggestions and ideas. Thank you to everyone!

The board will be working on the budget and as you know we have tried to be very frugal with our expenses so that we can continue with the chapter events – please let me know if you have any ideas for fundraising or modifications of the budget. We will budget for a deposit for a seminar in 2021 as requested by members but will need a seminar Chair and participation from members for this to be successful. We will also do an audit of the last year’s finance to include in the annual report to SDP at the February Meeting – this is done by two general members and is a review of what occurred to meet budget last year – I do have one volunteer and will need one more. Onya will be available should any questions arise.

To try to decrease our storage costs and the hauling of the tables the Board members have graciously offered to store and bring them to meetings. Thank you Robyn, Rama, Onya and Linda M for taking this on – thank you, Robyn for tracking how many tables will be needed. We will continue to look for options to the storage and meeting places to contain costs.

Linda S will be looking at creative things to do for Fundraising so please look for her articles and support our Fundraising endeavors!

Linda M has been asked to stay on the Social Media committee for SDP so Congratulations on that! She also has dates for the Imaginology and the theme for the Orange County Fair – please note the dates of each along with the dates of the Paint Ins as we had to move dates for Easter and also to encourage members to attend the PHP seminar with Rosemary West in August. So just a heads up to watch the calendar for the fun events ahead. Robyn will also be asking for submissions for teaching ornaments for the Christmas in July Paint in. Carol was asked to chair the Awards committee for SDP so congratulations go out to one of our members from afar.

I look forward to seeing you at the February Paint In for a great day of Painting! Let’s fly with the eagles to freedom!

Happy Painting, Sherry

“No one has ever become poor from giving.” – Anne Frank

This year I have committed myself to helping chapter earn money by becoming the chair for fundraising. As the quote above implies, giving is a powerful way to help

others. This year I have requested the board consider having a raffle if the class attendance is 8 or more. I’m also committed to quality raffles with items we can use.

Sherry and Robyn have generously prepared some initial baskets for this purpose, thank you. I would however like to encourage members to donate as well. There has to be some great pieces in closets that will never see paint, so why not give someone a chance to create something beautiful.

For the end of the year raffle, I’m still considering the item(s) that go beyond the normal raffles. If you have something you feel will work or you would like to contribute by painting something, let me know.

I have some other ideas for other ways to raise money and as I get those ideas more in focus, I will let you know. I will also try to announce which month raffles will take place, so sign up early?
