    FIELD TRIP

We had a great turn out last month. Over 25 of us showed up to support the Brush Guys. They offered us 10% off our purchase. A lot of members showed up with a list of brushes they needed to replace. A few chapters even picked up some supplies for up-coming events. (Pictured L to R: Linda Silvasy, Sandy Garcia, David, Diane Hendricks, Linda Martin)

Orange County Fair Update!! Well, we lost the OC Fair Submission Challenge Contest to OCTDP hands down. The losing chapter pays $20.00 for the winning chapter to fund one of the OC Fair participants to a Paint-In. So, PCA members, get those paint brushes moving for next year!! We need to get our $20.00 back. Maybe you will be the lucky winner of the free paint-in. If you want to know more about the Orange County Fair and how to enter, contact me or go to www.ocfair.com click on EVENTS>COMPETITIONS & CONTESTS>HOW TO ENTER>CRAFTS & HOBBIES\LEARN MORE. Submissions will start in May 2017 Linda Martin

FUNDRAISING I can’t believe its October already! That means it’s time for our year-end fundraiser. Without our fundraiser this chapter could not exist. The money we raise helps us pay for our holiday party and offsets the cost of our seminars and teachers for our paint-ins. Let’s make it a great fundraiser and have everyone sell their 20 tickets this year. With that being said we have four great items this year. Onya Tolmasoff and Terry Holte graciously volunteered to finish painting some items for us. We also received a couple of donations. We will be handing out your tickets at the mystery paint-in. If you only come to vote please make sure to pick up your tickets from me (or if you will be seeing other members, please take their tickets as well to help save on mailing costs). We will also start collecting gift baskets for our holiday party silent auction. If you need ideas our PCA Pinterest has some great ones. I appreciate everyone’s support. Delia Griffith

Tole and Decorative Painting Month Tole month has expanded itself into several months for PCA. We (Ruth, June, Robyn and Linda) set-up the Mission Viejo Library with 46 pieces; it looks great and will run for 2 months. Stop in and see it. On October 1st we will be setting up the Rancho Santa Margarita library and we’ll need mostly Christmas projects for the display. (See pictures of the display on Page 15 Thanks, June

September Drawings We had some great Halloween items for our September drawing. Our new member Debbi Vartanian was the lucky winner of the sled with the ornaments. Welcome to P.C.A. Debbi!

Gift Card & Certificates Avaliable With the holidays just around the corner remember PCA offers $15 gift cards or gift certificates in any denomination. These would make a great gift for your painting friends. These can only be used at PCA for paint-ins’, seminars, drawings or even garage sale items. Contact: Delia Griffith if interested

    Membership Updates

Please welcome our newest PCA member: Debbi Vartanian of Yorba Linda. I don’t know where 2016 has gone but it’s time to think about renewing your SDP and PCA memberships. If you renew your SDP membership by December 1st, its only $50…..that’s less than $1.00 per week and less than a Costco Membership. If you know someone who might be interested in painting but doesn’t want to commit to a full price SDP membership, there are other options: Trial Membership: if you have not been a SDP member for the last 3 years, you can re-join for $30 per calendar year with all benefits except a printed SDP magazine; on-line version is available. Student Membership: if you know a fine arts college student or younger artist who might be interested, they can join SDP for $15 per calendar year with the same benefits as a Trial Membership. SDP and PCA memberships make great Christmas or Hanukah gifts! I’ll be at the Mystery Paint-in October 9th and will be accepting 2017 membership renewals. Please fill out a membership form so we have all current contract information Happy Painting, Maureen

Here is the recipe for those of you who might like to try your hand.
