Description: A flier shown in black and white to promote a graduate leadership conference.

Programs Used: InDesign

Date: October 4. 2015

Comm 130- Brother Stucki

Objective:Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in InDesign intact.

Process:

Started out by creating a couple sketch ideas on a sheet of paper while trying to use a variety of images and text ideas. Next I chose which images and texts fonts I desired to use, and then threw them on the page. After placing them according to my sketch I began to play with different body alignments things to get a feel of what would look good. I tried both Old style and San Serif fonts to see which I preferred before choosing my original font. I made the picture a little bigger for my final project and lengthened the gray box for the “conference” part of my title. I kept playing with the title position until I decided to place it in its current place. I asked people for their feedback once I felt I had completed the flyer. I used the gray to create contrast and repetition throughout my flyer.

Objective:Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not including the logo. One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.Write at least 250 words of original copy Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex (two-sided) color.

Process: I looked for inspiration online. I created the brochure in Indesign.I used illustrator create the logo. The logo was created with the pen tool, shape tool (star to make it into a triangle and square),path tool and text tool. I then took the logo and place it into an indesign file. I places my selected brochure images. I used the ruler tool to align everything as well. I text wrapped text around the image.I also used a very subtle gradient effect on the back.

Description: A montage about how families shine brighter when they are together, inspired by the christmas season, hence the christmas tree.

Programs Used: Photoshop CC

Date: October 24, 2015

Objective:Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual messageLearn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masksUse a mask to apply a filter to one part of the imageApply typography principles Format type: Legibility; Small copy & Title with varying text size. Select good quality images

Process: I wanted to have a religious reminder theme that depicted family. Family is a very religious topic for me, and so I wanted to incorporate them together. Therefore after multiple different montages I chose the one I liked best. I struggled with the getting rid of the watermarks from some of the ornaments. I used content aware and the brush tool to get rid of the watermark. As well as deciding if I wanted to change the ornaments opacity level (which I did a little). I think placement had to be my biggest struggle, I kept repositioning the pictures. I chose a Christmas picture and then I had to edited so it would fit the complete canvas size. I edited each individual photo in photoshop until I was pleased. The content aware tool was used in small sections for the background so that it would give it a more natural look. I also did background deletion on all the photos used, and color correcting. Then I typed my text in two separate boxes.

Description: 3 different logo variations for a friend of my dad’s toy store business.

Programs Used: Indesign gn CC & Illustrator CC

Date: October 31, 2015

Comm 130- Brother Stucki

Objective:Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs.Use only the Illustrator tools to create and draw your logos.

Process: My friends dad asked if I could create a logo for his opening business. He already had the color scheme he wanted to use, which were the traditional color for “girls (pink) and boys (blue). I tried creating a complete teddy bear outline, but it wasn’t working out well. So we revised it and decided on a smiling face instead. I used Adobe Illustrator to make these designs and since they had to be different I created different variations in design and color. For the first logo I made different circle sizes and placed them with in . I used the group and “send to back option so that it would look as one shape. I mainly used a blue color scheme. The square on the bottom was added to make you think the teddy bear was coming our of a box.

For the second one we wanted to make it classy and playful so we gave it a bow-tie. It was inspired by my nephews bow tied teddy bear. The bow tie is black and I used the start tool and converted to a triangle shape. I chose contrasting fonts and sizes.

For the last one I made it look more like a normal teddy bear. I used the oval tool and made a circle and then used the pen tool to remove a point, creating that shape. I chose contrasting fonts.

Description: Business Card with a new logo and business. In my case card and logo for an imaginary hospital “Sonrisas”.

Programs Used: Indesign gn CC & Illustrator CC

Date: November 7, 2015

Comm 130- Brother Stucki

Objective: Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.Business card should be 3.5 x 2 and printed above center on a vertical page.Include contact information

Process: (LOGO) I used pen tool in Illustrator to create the heart and used a gradient blue effect on the heart. Then I created a “cross” using the pen tool to create it split so I could put the name of the hospital “sonrisas in the middle. I used the vertical type tool option for the words in the middle “sonrisas” and also made the cross a red gradient.

(Card) For the front I used the same color scheme as the logo, I used simple layout to bring the attention to the words and the logo. (Its the same color scheme as the puerto rican flag) For the back I followed the same format and added the e-mail in the bottom so that it wouldn’t look squished above.

Objective:Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed optional, but trim only .125.Keep designs simple with light watermarks and drop shadows and plenty of white space.Include contact information

Process: I struggled finding where to place the logo. First it was big and on the lower right side, then its was smaller on the top right and then I just decided to put in the bottom in a row makes it looked cute and because it repeated the logo multiple times. I reduced the opacity level to 40%. Also I purposely used lines to create a rectangle shape and left spaces so that it wouldn’t’ have trapped white space. (Card) For the front I used the same color scheme as the logo, I used simple layout to bring the attention to the words and the logo. (Its the same color scheme as the puerto rican flag) For the back I followed the same format and added the e-mail in the bottom so that it wouldn’t look squished above.

Description: This project is about learning to photograph and design a page that incorporates colors and design principles into photography as well as your page design. Programs Used: Photoshop

Date: October 17, 2015

Comm 130- Brother Stucki

Objective:Learn basic photography skills.Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout.Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (non-destructive editing.)Size and crop the image, then place on an 8.5×11 page layout.Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8″ (0.125) from all four sides.

Process: First chose a color scheme for the project that I wanted to do. I used my camera to take this image of my nephew Benjamin in his crib. I went with a underwater color scheme and theme, hence the bubbles and the different blue’s. I added the greens and yellows because of the colorful underwater images in his crib. I edited the picture until I achieved my desired look.

Description: A color full-bleed event ad to promote a Chocolate Dessert Contest event where the proceeds will go to Senior Citizens Center while using only 2013 Microsoft Word and a scanner. Programs Used: Microsoft Word 2011, Phone Scanner, pdf2jpg.net

Date: October 10, 2015

Comm 130- Brother Stucki

Objective:

Process: First I sketched drafts and planned what kind of event I wanted to do. I love chocolate and I love deserts so it was easy to figure out that to be my theme.

I found a dessert image that I liked and scanned it with an app using an I-phone 6S. I struggled a little figuring out how to scan it with the right settings for scanning proportions Then I decided to use complementary monochromatic scheme using Palleton Color Scheme Designer. I chose blue and yellow. I really liked the Palleton designed layout so I used a similar scheme changing the size and the space in between the squares. I wanted to bring attention to the Date time and place so I chose to place it inside the gold box. I made the title follow the same style as the D,TP, but in the opposite way to create both flow, repetition, and contrast. I used a Word to fill the squares with the respective color. Alignment was key for this event ad to work and look well put together. I chose two semi contrasting fonts.

Comm 130- Brother Stucki

Objective:

Process: I created the web page using Text mate. I had two separate files, the html file, and the css file. I looked up the color code on w3school.org. I edited the html and css code until I got the desired look. I chose a photography theme. I created a photography logo. The logo is meant to be a camera with the lens zooming out. I wanted a dark color since I was inspird by the black Cannon cameras. I added a gradient effect in hopes of making it have depth.
