DESCRIPTION:The thought that went into this logo was the foremost fact that I wanted it to be simple but powerful and give a clear message to my audience. I began by gathering ideas on what makes a logo memorable and unique.

PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS: Adobe IllustratorAdobe InDesign

OBJECTIVES:Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.

PROCESS: As I was working on this design I began to think about how I wanted this to be simple, clean, and elegant. That has been my unofficial slogan for my business. I didn’t want something that was overpowering or in your face. I wanted something that would leave a lasting impression. My message when people see my logo should be at first curiosity and wonder about what this big AHD means. vWhen people then turn the card around or read further they recognize that I am a freelance graphic designer.

DESCRIPTION:I currently reside at Centre Square and so I felt inspired that I should create a brochure for the apartment complex! My plans for this design was to have it be simple but sleek at the same time. I wanted to leave a lasting impression with anyone who may glance or read my brochure.

PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS: Adobe InDesignAdobe Photoshop

OBJECTIVES:Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not including the logo. One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.

PROCESS: I used Centre Square’s website for the colors and the overall design. There was nowhere that I could copy and paste the logo at a high-quality level for my brochure, and so I had to hunt down the font they used and recreated it myself. I redesigned a logo from a previous design business that I was a part of to brand this brochure. The repeating squares with different sizes are similar to the styling that Centre Square uses on their website.6

DESCRIPTION:This is a photo design created to look like a magazine cover for a Dorm Room Magazine for college students.

DATE: 2/6/16

COURSE/INSTRUCTOR:Comm 130 Section 04Lindsey LeFevre

PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS: The Program I used was Adobe Photoshop and the Tools I used was my digital camera taking this photo.

OBJECTIVES:Learn basic photography skills.Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.Use layers to design text, and graphic elements in Photoshop.Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout.

PROCESS: I focused on simplifying the message and the design; less is more in my opinion. The message I am aiming to convey to those who will be viewing this is that if you are in dire need of finding something both fashionable and functional in housing, that these apartments would meet your needs! My audience is the younger crowd of students at are attending BYU-Idaho either now or in the near future and are looking for available housing. I am targeting the audience to be about 18 to 25 in age, along with those that are looking for a clean and modern apartment with an appealing aesthetic taste.

PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS: Adobe Photoshop

OBJECTIVES:Learn to manage Photoshop layers.Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks.Use filters and apply appropriate typography.

PROCESS: I used the filters used on the side of the panels such as Overlay and Multiply and Darken. Those combined and masked into the project allowed for a vibrant design. My audience would be a younger generation of people who still have a lot to pursue. Preferably the audience I want to attract would be individuals who are willing to make changes and be adventurous as described in the picture with a man holding a surfboard.

PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS: Adobe IllustratorAdobe InDesignText Wrangler

OBJECTIVES:Acquire a working knowledge of HTML.Acquire a working knowledge of CSS.

PROCESS: Designing website is one of my favorite things to do. Being able to see how the design comes together from the HTML to the CSS in this project was a slow but steady progression for me. I experimented with several different designs, but in the end, I wanted to do something simple but classy.I feel that overall the thing that I learned the most was to face my fear of CSS and HTML. I always knew that I would have to begin learning how to work with those coding languages and making it look good! I changed several aspects of the original CSS in regards to the layout and design of my website, along with the text layout and font choice.

DESCRIPTION:This is a logo that I designed for my graphic design portfolio and business. When this project came about I was very excited to be able to rebrand my graphic design business and my abilities to create pleasing designs for all to see.

COURSE/INSTRUCTOR:Comm 130 Section 04Lindsey LeFevre

PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS: Adobe Illustrator

OBJECTIVES:Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience.Refine one logo with variations for color

PROCESS: The program I used for this was strictly Adobe Illustrator. I used different shapes to create the triangles and the rectangles. The text I found different fonts using the Adobe Typekit set that would be pleasing and eye catching. I planned out, after doing a lot of visual research and sketches, what I wanted my logo to be and I felt inspired that I should create this logo after many, many many rough sketches. The pencil and the triangle are supposed to resemble the letter A which is in conjuncture with my first initial. I planned on being bold and affirmative with my design in my desire to attract future clients.

DESCRIPTION:Rebranding my graphic design business has been quite a journey for me. Several people will be seeing this logo as their first impression of me and I want to make it a great one.

COURSE/INSTRUCTOR:Comm 130 Section 04Lindsey LeFevre

PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS: Adobe IllustratorAdobe InDesign

OBJECTIVES:Keep designs simple with light watermarks and drop shadows and plenty of white space.Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a letterhead.

PROCESS: I am planning to attract an audience that has a desire for modern and appealing designs. I want people to understand that when they work with me that they will be receiving ahigh-quality product that will, in turn, attract clients to them.I wasn’t concerned about making a gloriously extravagant design. Less truly is more and in this case of the design and the monochromatic color scheme it gives a pleasing appeal to all who view it.

DESCRIPTION:This flier was designed to promote the event of Adopting A Penguin trough the Defenders of Wildlife Association as the main charity organization.

DATE: 1/30/16

COURSE/INSTRUCTOR:Comm 130 Section 04Lindsey LeFevre

PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS: Microsoft Word

OBJECTIVES:Find, scan and import a high-quality image.Create a full-bleed design.Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

PROCESS: A principle that I want to highlight would have to be the fact that I used a flow of the text to match the background. The eyes are drawn to the large crowd of penguins and then it leads up to the header text which leads you through the body text which completes the message with the soft colored mountains in the background. The biggest thing I learned while doing this projects was the ability to scan an image and use that as a main bleed on an event ad.

WHY ADOPT? With their tuxedo-like plumage and charming good looks, penguins are often stars on the big screen. But behind the glitz and glamour is a tragic story: Penguin populations have decreased by nearly 80 percent in some areas, and most scientists agree that the primary culprit is rising temperatures due to climate change.

Adopt A Penguin! PENGUIN BOOTH AT THE MANWARING CENTER / FEB 6TH - 10 AM

HOW DOES YOUR ADOPTION HELP PENGUINS? Your adoption helps Defenders' continue to be a powerful advocate for legislation and policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote clean energy and protect vital wildlife habitat from being exposed to increased fossil fuel development such as oil drilling in the Arctic.

A single penguin adoption is only $5.00! Visit our booth at the MC on Feb. 6th or Donate to Defenders of Wildlife at www.defenders.org
