Piper hopped off the bus and took her first step onto the lush green grass at Lake Wayne Camp. She looked around as unfamiliar faces ran toward each other, embracing, wearing the biggest smiles she had ever seen. She was nervous, scared, and a little confused. An older girl in a light blue tee shirt and white shorts approached her, holding a clipboard. "Hi there! You look a little lost." The older girl waved one of the boys over to take Piper's bags. "My name is Rosie. I'll help you find your cabin. What's your name, sweetheart?" Piper stared up at Rosie with her big green eyes in her opposite apparel of a white shirt and light blue shorts her mom had laid out on the floor of her bedroom the night before. "Piper Marshall", she managed to squeak out. At that very moment, Piper was whisked away by Rosie's hand, leading her to two new girls holding a giant white sign with the number 10 painted on it rather sloppily. The girls looked around the same age as Rosie, maybe a little younger. Rosie left, and Piper found herself standing next to two strangers. She continued to observe all of the boys and girls around her as they began to walk across the field toward a row of cabins. She stood for a few minutes before the two older girls made an awkward attempt at an introduction. "Hey, your name is Piper, right?" "Yeah," Piper responded. "Who are you guys?" The girl holding the sign spoke first, "I'm Tate. I'm your counselor for the summer!" "And I'm Jane. I'm also your counselor, and we're really excited to have you in our cabin!" All of the remaining buses rolled away from the grassy area. "I guess that's our cue to head back to the bunk. Everyone must be waiting back there." Piper followed Tate and Jane back to the cabin where she had seen all of the other campers running toward earlier. Piper stood outside of the cabin on the black pavement. She admired the light brown wood that held the small building together. She read the blue sign with white numbers and letters carved into the rectangular plank. "Cabin 10". This would be her new home for the next two weeks. The boy who had taken her bag earlier had dropped it off right in front of the door to the cabin. It stared at her, begging her to pick it up and bring it inside. This was it. It was time for Piper to go into the cabin and meet the girls she'd be spending the next fourteen days with. She grabbed the bag and stepped up onto the porch. Girls were screaming with joy on the other side of the door. Piper winced with fear of what was about to occur. She felt everyone's eyes glare for a quick moment as she creaked the screen door open, but the girls almost immediately returned to what they were doing prior to Piper's arrival. Piper scanned the room, anxiously awaiting the moment she would see her name written on a name tag taped to either a top or bottom bunk bed. She prayed it would be a bottom bunk. Her friends from home had told her about sleeping on a top bunk. She could hear the voices in her head saying things like, "Make sure you don't get a top bunk because it's so much harder to make your bed" and "If you get a bottom bunk, it's so much better because you don't have to worry

Piper hopped off the bus and took her first step onto the lush green grass at Lake WayneCamp. She looked around as unfamiliar faces ran toward each other, embracing, wearing the biggestsmiles she had ever seen. She was nervous, scared, and a little confused. An older girl in a light bluetee shirt and white shorts approached her, holding a clipboard.

"Hi there! You look a little lost." The older girl waved one of the boys over to take Piper'sbags. "My name is Rosie. I'll help you find your cabin. What's your name, sweetheart?"

Piper stared up at Rosie with her big green eyes in her opposite apparel of a white shirt andlight blue shorts her mom had laid out on the floor of her bedroom the night before. "Piper Marshall",she managed to squeak out. At that very moment, Piper was whisked away by Rosie's hand, leadingher to two new girls holding a giant white sign with the number 10 painted on it rather sloppily. Thegirls looked around the same age as Rosie, maybe a little younger. Rosie left, and Piper found herselfstanding next to two strangers. She continued to observe all of the boys and girls around her as theybegan to walk across the field toward a row of cabins. She stood for a few minutes before the twoolder girls made an awkward attempt at an introduction.

"Hey, your name is Piper, right?"

"Yeah," Piper responded. "Who are you guys?"

The girl holding the sign spoke first, "I'm Tate. I'm your counselor for the summer!"

"And I'm Jane. I'm also your counselor, and we're really excited to have you in our cabin!" Allof the remaining buses rolled away from the grassy area. "I guess that's our cue to head back to thebunk. Everyone must be waiting back there." Piper followed Tate and Jane back to the cabin whereshe had seen all of the other campers running toward earlier.

Piper stood outside of the cabin on the black pavement. She admired the light brown woodthat held the small building together. She read the blue sign with white numbers and letters carved intothe rectangular plank. "Cabin 10". This would be her new home for the next two weeks. The boywho had taken her bag earlier had dropped it off right in front of the door to the cabin. It stared ather, begging her to pick it up and bring it inside. This was it. It was time for Piper to go into the cabinand meet the girls she'd be spending the next fourteen days with.  She grabbed the bag and steppedup onto the porch. Girls were screaming with joy on the other side of the door. Piper winced withfear of what was about to occur.  She felt everyone's eyes glare for a quick moment as she creakedthe screen door open, but the girls almost immediately returned to what they were doing prior toPiper's arrival. Piper scanned the room, anxiously awaiting the moment she would see her namewritten on a name tag taped to either a top or bottom bunk bed. She prayed it would be a bottombunk. Her friends from home had told her about sleeping on a top bunk. She could hear the voices inher head saying things like, "Make sure you don't get a top bunk because it's so much harder tomake your bed" and "If you get a bottom bunk, it's so much better because you don't have to worry

about dropping things from the top bunk!"

Phew, Piper thought to herself. Bottom bunk.

Over the course of the first few days, Piper kept to herself. She desired to fit in with the girls,but there really wasn't an opportunity for her to break the ice. Unfortunately, the girls weren't makingthe biggest effort to include Piper either. On the fourth night of camp, Piper was getting ready forbed, just as all her cabin mates were doing as well. She put her pajamas on, brushed her teeth, askedTate to check the bed for bugs and spiders, and buried herself in the covers. Piper felt as if she hadbeen sleeping for not even twenty minutes before she realized she needed to pee. She rushed out ofbed and briskly, yet quietly, walked to the bathroom. As she sat down to pee, she heard whisperscoming from the bathroom stall next to the one she was in. Piper flushed the toilet and looked underthe stall, noticing four feet on the floor. That's weird, Piper pondered.

"Who's in there?" A voice appeared.

"It's Piper… I'm just going to the bathroom. Who are you?"

"It's Caroline. Can you keep a secret for me? Please."

"Caroline, who else is in there with you?"

A boy answered. "Please, Piper. Don't tell anyone."

Piper couldn't believe what she was witnessing. Caroline opened the stall door and lookedPiper right in the eye. The boy had his pants down and was now sitting on the top part of the toilet.Caroline was asking Piper to keep her mouth shut because if their counselors found out about theboy cabin hopping, they'd both get in trouble. More importantly, the boy now standing behindCaroline putting his pants back on was Daniel Ritzman.

At Lake Wayne Camp, Daniel Ritzman is is known as one of the token losers in Piper's agegroup. Other than just being an odd kid, he is notorious for eating his boogers and throwing up on thebus ride back from a camp trip to Dorney Park. Caroline knew that if any of her friends found outabout her and Daniel, she'd be the laughing stock of the summer. Piper promised Caroline and Danielshe wouldn't say a word, then went back to sleep.

There were only three days left of camp, and Piper was still struggling to make friends. Eventhough she had kept Caroline's secret, Caroline was being significantly more rude to Piper than therest of the girls in the cabin. At lunch that day, Piper sat at the end of the table, just as she had donefor the past two weeks. The girls talked about their activities that day, how much they were going tomiss each other when camp is over, and of course, boys.

Caroline leaves table, ends up conversing with Daniel while getting food.

Girls gossip about why they're talking.

This is Piper's chance to chime in!

Piper informs the girls of C and D's rendezvous.

The girls freak out, Piper tells them not to say a word.

Awkward when C comes back, the girls eventually make a joke about C and D.

C gives Piper a dirty look.

Rumor spreads around camp.

Piper is included with two days left of camp, the girls invite her to go to activities with them, excluding Caroline.

Caroline gets mad at Piper, confrontation.

Piper talks to Tate/Jane *This is where the moral will be present.

Piper apologizes, Caroline forgives and says she really likes Daniel regardless of his grosshabits.

They sit together on the bus back home and ask their moms if they can have a sleepover.
