“In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.”
–Mother Teresa
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” –Mahatma Gandhi
FOREWORDYABhg. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah MansorHonorary Patron, "Gaza Dibela" Initiative
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
A s a mother, I feel remorse to see the suffering of chil-dren in Gaza, Palestine. As I understood, hundreds of children were killed and thousands of them lost their
parents or were injured in the recent armed conflict. It sad-dened me to see the pictures of these children. I could feel them calling for help from our global community. That is why I am keen to be the Honorary Patron of “Gaza Dibela” initiative by the Universal Peace Federation of Malaysia.
Today, we find that the world has grown smaller and the world's people have become almost one community. The advancement of internet and telecommunications are eliminating ancient barriers of distance, culture and race. In the past, isolated communities could afford to think of one another as fundamentally separate and even existed in total isolation. Nowadays, however, events in one part of the world eventually affect the entire global community. Therefore we have to treat each major local problem as a global concern. We need to understand that we are all part of this one big global family. We are all interconnected and interdependent. We must learn to work not just for our self, our family or nation, but for the benefit of all mankind.
The 'Power of 10 sen – Gaza Dibela' promotes such universal responsibility and the spirit of brother- and sisterhood. I believe such simple act of kindness is planting the seed of love and kindness in the heart of our children. It doesn’t matter how much we collected because what is more important is how our mold and raise our future generation, who will determine the future of humanity. The culture of giving for others, the genuine practice of love and compassion, is the foundation of a peaceful and civilized future.
I must thank all organisations and schools that have taken part in this noble campaign. Your in-volvement has shown the great compassion of Malaysian people and this is giving tremendous hope to the children in Gaza. I hope this initiative will continue and be broadened to help children in other countries such as Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Cambodia and so on. Let us continue to protect and nurture the lives of ‘our’ children around the world.
Thank you very much.

It is a great pleasure for me to welcome everyone of you to The Appreciation Ceremony of Power of 10 sen Gaza Dibela co-organized by Universal Peace Federation and
Malaysian Red Crescent Society.
I believe that people of all societies are entitled to live in an environment that is socially just and equitable, and be allowed to pursue a life of dignity and fulfillment.
Children constitute more than half of the population of Gaza and are bearing the brunt of the crisis. They are severely suffering from a series of restrictions imposed upon them. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child puts an emphasis on the need to take all feasible measures to ensure the protection, care and welfare of children who are affected by armed conflict.
As the saying goes, little drops of water make a mighty ocean. The 10 sen coins can multiply in to a meaningful amount able to feed many needy mouths of Gaza. The ‘Power of 10 Sen’ is an awareness program to inculcate a culture of peace and service amongst the children of Malaysia towards building the realization of a single Global Family transcending race, religion and culture. The ‘Power of 10 Sen’ raises fund through collection of 10 sen from Malaysian children to help those children who suffering due to war, conflict, disaster, poverty and diseases. The donation drive is also aimed at helping the children caged in The Gaza Strip, who have witnessed more death and destruction than most other humans might have witnessed in a lifetime, and to raise awareness about their ongoing plight. Without the help that they desperately need to heal their physical, mental, and emotional wounds, these children do not stand a chance.
Finally, I urge everyone to work together in ensuring Malaysians are instilled with moral values, discipline and positive social values for the development of our human capital – 1Malaysia.
Salam Perpaduan,
(TAN SRI DR. KOH TSU KOON)
W elcome to the ‘Power of 10 Sen – Gaza Dibela’ Ap-preciation Ceremony. This is truly a humanitarian effort “for children, by children”, and the first of its
kind taking place in Malaysia. I must express my sincere grati-tude to our Honorary Patron, Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor for giving us her inspiration and encouragement for us to realize this meaningful initiative.
The ‘Power of 10 Sen’ is an initiative to promote the culture of giving and living for others espe-cially among the younger generation. The crux of the drive is the belief that ‘everyone can give’, and for as little as 10 sen and collectively it can make a huge difference. ‘Power of 10 Sen – Gaza Dibela’ was launched on 9 March 2009 to raise funds for the children in war-torn Gaza. Until today, many are suffering from poverty, malnutrition and the situation has become critical after the recent war this year.
Throughout the two-month campaign, our Malaysian children has amazed me at how compas-sionate and caring they are towards the suffering of the children – their brothers and sisters in war-torn Gaza. We have collected about 1.4 million 10 sen coins from kindergardens, primary and secondary schools, some good-hearted individuals and NGOs. Our children have shown us not just the Power of 10 sen, but the ‘power of love’. They are making a difference to the thousands of suffering children in Gaza.
Let us applaud the dedication shown by the children in Malaysia. Let us encourage everyone of them to live a lifestyle of giving and living for the sake of others. I believe the spirit of altruistic love is the pillar of good character and leadership of the next generation.
I would also like to thank all partners of this project – Malaysian Red Crescent, National Unity and Integration Department, Universiti Malaya and Ministry of Education for your kind support in making the Power of 10 Sen – Gaza Dibela a great success.
Thank you very much.

The 'Power of 10 Sen' is the first ever collaboration with the Universal Peace Federation of Malaysia (UPF) that attempts to connect the children in Malaysia with the
children in Gaza, in a simple but meaningful gesture. Besides helping to alleviate the pain and suffering of the Palestinian children; Malaysians also benefit by learning about the value of money, as well as to emphatise with others who are less fortunate.
MRC was involved in carrying out the campaign in secondary and primary schools throughout the country. The effort received a lot of support from the committed school principals, headmasters, teachers, youths and children. Good cooperation given by all the state’s education department greatly facilitated our task of accessing the schools and students nationwide. In general, it was an exciting and rewarding experience for all involved, adults and students alike. Here, I must congratulate all those involved including volunteers, teachers and students on a job well done.
As the national chairman of the Malaysian Red Crescent, I wish to convey many thanks to Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor for her support throughout this project.
I would also like to express our appreciation to YBhg. Tan Sri Hjh Zaleha Ismail and the UPF team for mooting this idea and collaborating with Malaysian Red Crescent, in the recent months to ensure its successful implementation. It was an honour for MRC to be given the opportunity to work with UPF on this special project and we look forward to more positive collaboration in the future.
Thank you.

Launching of Gaza Dibela By Children For Children Charity Drive
This campaign was launched on 9 March 2009 by YABhg Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor at De-wan Tunku Canselor, University of Malaya. More
than 1,500 participants from 12 universities and col-leges, secondary schools, NGOs, and government departments filled to capacity the hall.
Two Gaza children, Muhammed and Mo’men, ages 6 and 5, made an appearance on stage when the cam-paign was launched. They had arrived from Gaza just a week earlier with their parents. Their home was damaged in the recent conflict and they hope to start a new life in Malaysia. According to the father, most of the children in Gaza are still living in poverty and lack a proper education.
Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, the Patron of "Gaza Dibela" Initiative said in her address: “It is very timely to launch this campaign as children are always the biggest vic-tims of war. They deserve to grow up in a peaceful environment with parental love and good education.”
Three hundred primary and secondary schools throughout 13 states in the country ardently par-ticipated in this charity drive. Over 6,000 donation
boxes were distributed.

Malaysian Red Crescent Society
Malaysian Red Crescent was incorporat-ed under The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Act 1965 with its con-
stitutional objective to provide humanitarian services as auxiliary to the Government.
Since then, MRCS has been devoted to the care of the most vulnerable, providing assistance to the people and victims of disaster or crisis in incredible need.
Throughout its 61 years of existence, it has earned a reputation for excellent public ser-vice and has become a living testimony of the Malaysians courage and innate desire to help those in need and rely for the basics of survival.
Malaysian Red Crescent passes through vari-ous phases of development, encounters and resolves diverse humanitarian problems in the process.
Malaysian Red Crescent biggest achievements is coping with problems of the Vietnamese Boat People; training of First Aider in Every Home; sustaining rehabilitation and reconstruction programmes resulting from the Tsunami catas-trophe; providing emergency and post-earth-quake services during the Bam Earthquake, Philippines Mud Slide and Landslide, Tsunami in Indonesia, Pakistan & Jogjakarta Earthquake, Myanmar Cyclone Nargis, Sichuan Earthquake and Gaza thereby positioning our volunteers and community based humanitarian organiza-tion “acting locally, responding globally”.
Our aim is to be self sustaining via our multifac-eted projects. Our mission is to help people in need which is indeed a huge and daunting task. We need fresh funding as the existing funds which MRCS has obtained from various public donations are fast depleting.
We can only provide the level of immediate as-sistance required by the vulnerable with your help.
MRCS can only help then if you help us:
• Disaster Preparedness & Response • HIV/AIDS • Health & Care in the Community • Youth • Organizational Development • Ambulance Services
We believe our objectives will be in line with or complementary to the pursuits of your own goals and aspirations in discharging individual/ corporate responsibility towards communities.

Gaza… …
Selembut bayu pagimu bertiup
Namun tiada lagi gelak tawamu
Daku menginginkan suatu perhentian
Mengapa…Kenapa
Aku ditakdirkan menderita sebegini
Hentikanlah segala propaganda ini
Aku lelah dengan tangisan
Aku bingung dengan darah rakanku yang terkubur
Insan kecil sepertiku perlukan belaian
Kasih sayang tak bertepi
Berikanlah aku ruang dan kesempatan
Moga aku juga dapat menikmati kehidupan ini…
Wahai dunia…dengarkanlah
Setiap rintihan perlukan perhatian
Walaupun hanya sekecil nilai
Marilah kita sama-sama berjuang
Biarpun dengan duit syiling yang seolah tanpa nilai
Bangkitlah manusia dan hulurkan bantuan
Jumlah semua derma anda tak ternilaikan
Mereka disana amat memerlukan.
Mengharapkan secalit belas kasihan
Walau apa pun yang kita hulurkan
Asalkan ikhlas…ikhlas itu diberkati Tuhan
Jangan jemu memberi wahai Insan
Keterbukaan dan kemurahan pasti ada pembalasan.
Ku seru sekalian manusia sejagat
Kita semua adalah sekeluarga
Berpijak di atas bumi yang sama
Bernaung di bawah langit yang nyata
Marilah kita berpimpin tangan
Mengingati betapa ramai insan yang memerlukan
Ingatlah semua
Setiap kehidupan ada rintangan
Marilah kita menghulurkan bantuan
Agar derita ini dapat ditamatkan…
Khas buat…,
Rakyat di Gaza
