Sealife London Aquarium 4N visited SEALIFE London Aquarium on Wednesday. It was a wonderful opportunity for children to see various species that live within the deep waters around the Earth.

The children had some interactive opportunities to help them gain a better understanding of the different species.

The jelly fish in their dark enclosure and reflective colours had all the children intrigued.

“I felt scared of the shark under the ground, but very happy to see the penguins!” Niya

“I liked the sharks’ teeth, I could see they were sharp. I only liked the sharks.” Hassan

There was even a photo opportunity to complete the day. Thank you to all the children for their excellent behaviour and good listening throughout the day.

Maths Enterprise Project 2017

Over this half term Franciscan has embarked on a school-wide Maths Enterprise project for the purpose of raising money for a school in Ghana that was affected by flooding.

In classes, we generated ideas for raising money, voted on our favourite ideas and then worked out how cost effective our ideas were – could we save money by making small changes? How much should we sell our items for? Each class had a budget of £10 to work with. As you can see there was a lot of Maths involved! Then we made posters and used our skills of persuasion when promoting our ideas to other classes.

Each building hosted a day of Enterprise and all were a complete success. We raised more and more money – culminating in over £900 profit which will make a huge difference to the school in Ghana.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your help and support in making this project a success. Together, the children and staff were superb!

‘Sports For School’ How often would you hear a child say they spent a day with an Olympic Champion? Franciscan Primary School children can proudly state just that!

Daniel Lewis a GB triple jumper came and spent the day with our children and together they performed a number of fun exercises. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children to train with a

world reknown athlete.

It was wonderful to see the children thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Hopefully this will help to develop a lifelong love for sports.

We also had an excellent response to the Sponsorship with a whopping £186.50 raised so far.

Thank you to all the children who have helped in raising money and to all parents for their support.
