PrincetonplaysSyracuse,HofstraandCornelleachyear(sometimesmorethanonceayear),andthoseteamsobviouslyarelocatedinNewYork.PrincetonalsoplayedAdelphiinthemid-’90sandArmyfromthe1930sthroughthe’70s.It’sbeenawhilesincePrincetonhasplayedagameintheNewYorkCitylimits,how-

ever.ThePrincetonlacrossescheduleusedtobedottedwithgamesagainstathleticclubs,

ratherthanothercolleges.ThelasttimePrincetonplayedinNewYorkCitywasin1925,withagameattheCrescentAthleticClubinBrooklyn.ThelasttimePrincetonplayedanothercollegeteaminNewYorkCitywasin1922,whentheTigersplayedatNewYorkUniversity,whichwasactuallythefirstcollegetohavealacrosseteam.Princetonlacrosseplayeditsfirstgamein1881,anditsfour-gamescheduleincluded

agameatNYU.TheTigersfieldedateamfrom1881-1893andthentook26yearsofffromthesport,andPrincetonroutinelyplayedclubteams(andsometimesHarvard)inBrooklyn,StatenIslandandManhattan.Thefirst college lacrossegame, of course,wasonNov. 22, 1877, betweenNYUand

Manhattan.

JustinTortolani,whograduatedin1992astheall-timeleaderingoalsscoredatPrincetonwith120(hestandsfourthnow,havingbeenpassedbyJesseHubbard,ChrisMasseyandSeanHartofilis)andisnowapediatricsurgeon,hadtwogoalsinhisfirsttwogamesandthenscoredfourinhisthirdgameandonehisfourth.TherecordforgoalsinagamebyaPrincetonfreshmanissix,setbyJackMcBridetwo
