What is Day Rehabilitation?Day Rehabilitation is a combination of different therapies (physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, etc) being provided in a hospital setting under the direction of a Rehabilitation Specialist. These therapies are provided in a 1.5 hour (half day) or 3 hour (full day) session, 2-3x/week, with the aim of getting you back to normal function following medical illness, injury or surgery. Our comprehensive rehabilitation programs are targeted to individual needs, providing a combination of the following therapies:

• Physiotherapy• Hydrotherapy• Exercise Physiology• Dietetics• Occupational Therapy

Our Day Rehabilitation team are committed to providing rehabilitation programs that ensure you not only recover quicker and stronger, but that you also have the tools to manage your condition once discharged from the program.

Am I eligible for the Day Rehabilitation Program? If you have recently had surgery or a medical illness that has left you with a loss of walking ability, strength, or general function, then you may be eligible to participate in one of our rehabilitation programs. If you are unsure if your condition meets the eligibility criteria, please contact the Waratah Rehabilitation Centre on (02) 9598 0690.

Am I able to participate in hydrotherapy sessions only?Unfortunately, all of our therapies including hydrotherapy must be accessed as part of a rehabilitation program and must consist of a minimum of two (2) therapies.

Do I need a referral? To attend a Day Rehabilitation Program, a referral from a medical practitioner is required. This referral can be from your surgeon, specialist or even your GP. Doctor’s letters are accepted however referral forms are also available from the Day Rehabilitation Team.

REHABILITATION DAY THERAPY

Waratah Private Hospital Day Rehabilitation Programs are specifically designed to help patients restore and improve their function. Programs are directed by a rehabilitation specialist and consist of a tailored combination of physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, exercise physiology, occupational therapy and dietetics sessions which are all provided in our new Waratah Rehabilitation Centre located on the Mezzanine floor.

AM I COVERED FOR THIS PROGRAM?As our rehabilitation programs are provided in a hospital setting, they fall under the category of hospital cover. Most major health funds provide full cover for our rehab programs. Veteran’s Affairs, Workers compensation and CTP claims are also accepted.

Patients who are not privately insured may discuss hospital fees with the Hospital’s admission team on (02) 9598 0000.
