The family the late Eileen Murphy who died on the 16th of February, wish to thank all those who sympathised with them on their recent sad loss. Thanks to all those who attended the wake, removal, funeral Mass and burial. Thank you to those who phoned, sent Mass cards, sympathy cards and flowers, we are truly grateful.
Sincere gratitude to all Eileen’s wonderful good neighbours and friends (too many to name individually) who looked after her so well during her illness, your kindness and loyalty will never be forgotten and to Dr Byrne for his kindness and care and to the staff of the hospitals Eileen attended. Special thanks to all the people who cared for Eileen during the last while, and those who visited her and supported us through this difficult time.
Thanks to Fr. Byrne, the choir for their beautiful singing, the altar servers, John Walsh and the gravediggers and the staff of O' Driscoll's.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually please accept this acknowledgement of our sincere gratitude and appreciation.
Eileen’s months mind Mass will be celebrated on Thursday 16th of March at 7pm in Duiske Abbey
Carlow County Development Partnership and Waterways IrelandCarlow County Development Partnership and Waterways Ireland are having a meeting that is been held on Wednesday 22nd March in the boat house rowing club in Graiguenamanagh. The meeting starts at 6:30pm SHARP.This is a follow up meeting from the 21th Feb meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the proposed uses expressed by the community for the lock house in upper Tinnahinch. GraignamanaghSt Patrick’s Day Parade 2017
Takes place on Friday 17th March 12pm
A fantastic day lies ahead with Celebrity Chef Mr Edward Hayden
As Master of Ceremonies.
Just a quick few reminders:
The Parade starts from the Borris Road at 12pm.The review stand this year will be located in Tinnahinch, immediately over the Bridge
on the right hand side.All Floats taking part please assemble no later than 11.30 am on the Borris Road.
All walking groups with the exception of the marching bands to please assemble no later than 11.30 am on the Fairgreen.
Parking will be available until after the Parade at the Avonmore site in Tinnahinch. A reminder that this car park will close at 2pm. All floats to exit the Parade by turning
right into the Avonmore site.
As always we need lots of help this year in Stewarding the Parade. Every year we do not have enough people on the ground helping out as we are a very small organizing committee. If you are interested in helping out with the Parade please contact Mary on 087 9209742 or Niamh 087 2886435.
Here’s hoping everyone is working hard on their floats. We hope this year’s Parade will be the loudest, brightest & most entertaining yet!

As you already know, the Barrow Valley Development Committee are embarking on an active fundraising campaign to support the completion of the Outdoor Tourism Hub located at the back of Duiske College in the pitch and putt area.
As this is a community initiative, we are absolutely delighted to have the support of Love Graig who have recently committed their support and efforts in assisting our committee in this task. Like the rest of the Community, we really appreciate the work that LOVE GRAIG has done over the last number of years and continues to do, which can sometimes be overlooked. They make a powerful contribution to the town and can be assured of our committees help and assistance with their events going forward, with both of us working in collaboration together.
As we said, we are embarking on a fundraising campaign with all funds going towards the completion of the building.
Just a reminder that we will be entering a float in the St Patricks day parade in conjunction with the students of Duiske College and the students, staff members and parents will be undertaking a bucket collection on the day in line with this campaign. Jobseekers and Business Information EveningThis event takes place in the library on Tuesday 14th March from 6pm-8pm. It presents an opportunity for local job-seekers, under-employed, budding entrepreneurs and businesses to come together under one roof and discover the range of resources, support, information & guidance available. Representatives from various agencies including Intreo, Kilkenny ETB, LEO, Citizens Information, Kilkenny Leader Partnership, Community Employment Scheme, Turas Nua, Graiguenamanagh Bank of Ireland and Credit Union will be in attendance to offer advice and answer questions.Meet-and-Greet with Nicola PierceThe highly successful ‘One Book One Community’ programme is now drawing to an end. To mark the occasion Nicola Pierce, author of Spirit of the Titanic, will be in the library from 7.30pm on Tues 14th March to meet with people and have a chat. She will follow this with a talk at 8pm. An opportunity not to be missed!!!Closing DatesThe library will close at 5pm on Thurs 16th March and re-open on Tues 21st at 10am – we wish everybody an enjoyable St. Patrick’s Day. Please note that we will also be closed on Wed 22nd March for staff training.
