GREETERS: I can’t tell you how important this ministry is. To have people at our doors holding them open, saying hi or good morning and smiling. It sets a tone that what we are going to is worth it. I was at a restaurant/bar in Omaha the other day (Shucks) at 19th and Leavenworth… the minute I walked in I was greeted by the folks behind the bar and told go ahead be seated anywhere. It made me want to come back because I felt like they wanted me to be there. The same goes for our regulars and more importantly for those who might be venturing back to church for the first time in a long time or for our visitors. GREETERS JUST HAVE TO SHOW UP. So we are going to begin assigning more to this duty. FINALLY, CALL THE OFFICE AND LET JANET KNOW IF YOU WANT TO BE A GREETER… we have some hitches in our giddy up in getting some names on the greeter list… so just call and tell us. ALSO, THE BULLETINS WILL BE BROUGHT OUT BY THE GREETERS AFTER COMMUNION AND HANDED OUT TO YOU AS YOU LEAVE CHURCH.

CONFESSIONS: A reminder that confessions are heard on Wednesdays, 4:30-5:15 pm.

From the Pastor’s Desk by Fr. Owen Korte

INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC: Give me a call or send me a note via email

[email protected]. We are going to run a joint RCIA program with Fr. Keiter in Fordyce. It has already started, if you are interested or know of someone, we need to get go-ing.

WE ARE GOING TO MAKE A PARISH FLOAT FOR THE CANDLE LIGHT PARADE: In our storage garage we have a replica of the present Church plus a replica of the original church… so, I say, lets get it out, dust it off and make a Parish Float. Some guys on the Pas-toral Council have stepped up to get this going. I want to get a couple more guys together who will help build a flatbed on an already donated wagon running gear. I have an inside place to work on this. Here is what I am looking for: Tucked away in some barn on some farm is a bunch of lumber… 2X12s or 2x10s and some 4X4s and other dimensional lumber of some length—even if it’s not planed… we can get that done… that is just itching to be donated to the parish. Call the office ASAP. Thanks.

FAMILY FORMATION: Our next meeting date is Wednesday, November 15 and the topic is THE CREED.

Danube Riverboat Cruise: Would you like to accom-pany me (Fr. Korte) on a cruise along the scenic Da-nube River passing through Germany, Austria, Hun-gary and Slovakia? July 21-29, 2018. If interested drop me a line and I will send you the full informa-tion. [email protected] THERE IS A SPECIAL DISCOUNT IF YOUR SIGN UP VERY SOON.

All Souls Day: We will have a special evening mass on Tuesday, November 14 at 7:00 pm to remember all those who have died and especially those who have died this past year. So, mark your calendars already. VOCATIONS: Yellow cards are in church, in the back, where you can nominate men for the priesthood and the diaconate. We are going to have an information meeting for the purpose of telling you more about the Diaconate on Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00 pm. Place to be de-termined.

Guatemalan Mission: An invitation to make a short term mission trip! In June/July 2018, you will have the oppor-tunity to join other volunteer missionaries on a 12-day trip to Huehuetenango, Guatemala. For nearly 15 years we have had a sister-diocese relationship between the Archdiocese of Omaha and the Diocese of Huehuetenango. Missionaries who have experienced this relationship personally by travel-ling to Guatemala, describe the trip as “an encounter with the Living Christ” and “a profoundly moving” or “life changing” experience. Information Meetings on Oct. 29th, Nov. 5th, Nov. 12th, & Dec 10th, call Mark Zimmer at 402-452-4980 for time & place. Open to all adults & high school grads accompanied by adult family member.
