HA's 55th School Year Begins with 55 Seniors to Lead the Way!
The 2019 Senior Retreat was held August 10 - 12 at Timberlake Retreat Center in Millport, Alabama. All 55seniors plus 20 chaperones attended the event planned to build a cohesiveness among the students, preparethem for their senior service project and encourage spiritual and personal growth. Students were divided into teams and they competed in several challenges over the weekend. A relay race, photo scavenger hunt at MSU and an escape room were some of the challenges that tested the students ontheir team building skills and their mental and physical competitiveness. The night sessions consisted of aninspirational talk by Sean Turnipseed, (former HA faculty member and current minister in Starkville), and anawesome praise and worship time by former MSU Athlete Tyson Cunningham. After a weekend of fellowship and fun, the students made a grand entrance to school Monday on a flatbedtrailer followed by a run through of the halls to begin their final year of high school. The Class of 2020 hasperfect vision and can see a great year ahead! (see retreat photos on page 2)

HA Class of 1979 Holds 40th Reunion
McKenzie Bumgarner (HA’17) served this past summer as an intern withthe Hard Places Community (HPC) in Athens, Greece! McKenzie said that HPC wanted to expand to Athens because of the large number of refugeesin that area. Research led the organization to better understand therefugees, their struggles, and the large amounts of trafficking. Theirdirector wanted to start ministerial work in Athens and needed a group ofinterns like McKenzie who were willing to go out into the mostly unknownwith her. They partnered with other local ministries, gaining insight from them. Thegroup went canvassing into the streets to see where people were andsearched for potential opportunities lfor HPC to assist those who needed it.The group found much success and really saw the Lord work in a lot ofways! McKenzie said they can’t wait to see what the Lord continues to do,and what their future looks like in Greece!
