Before you leave...

KNOW YOUR LIMITS You will pass through an airport style

screening process as you enter the venue. Restrictions apply to certain items, such as water and sunscreen, so please check the Venue Entry Conditions and Prohibited & Restricted Items before you leave home.• Water: Commercially sealed

water bottle up to 350ml. Only bring empty re-usable transparent plastic bottles (free water refill points are available in venue)

• Sunscreen: Sunscreen bottles up to 250ml

AVOID BAGS It will be much faster to enter the venue.

If necessary, make sure your bag will fit under your seat, as there are no cloakrooms in GC2018 venues.

ARRIVE EARLY Don’t miss a moment of the action. Entry gates

will open up to 90 minutes before the beginning of each session.

KEEP YOUR TICKET WITH YOU Ensure you have the

correct ticket for your session. It also entitles you to free public transport* to and from the event.

PLAN YOUR JOURNEY Use the GC2018 Journey Planner on the app and

make sure you allow plenty of time for travel and entry, and your departure after the event.

It’s known for its thrilling entertainment, but at GC2018 Oxenford Studios will put on a new kind of show. Expect dramatic scenes, loud cheers and unexpected twists and turns. This is Boxing, Squash and Table Tennis at Oxenford Studios.

The home of blockbusters, Oxenford Studios features world-class film production facilities including Sound Stage 9, but the spotlight is now on sport. Hold on, it’s going to be a speedy ride.

MAKE A DAY OF IT There’s lots to do around Oxenford Studios. Head to Festival 2018 in Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach or check out the theme parks or explore the beautiful hinterland.

GET ENERGISED Bring your energy! As a spectator, you’re part of the action, so be ready for loud cheering and support.

STAY SUN SAFE Oxenford Studios is an indoor venue with outdoor features, so consider sun protection. For more health advice, visit the Queensland Health website.

KEEP HYDRATED Hydration is important for both athletes and spectators, but make sure you know what bottles you can and can’t bring into the venue.

SETTLE IN FOR THE SESSION There are no pass outs during the session and smoking is not permitted in GC2018 venues. For full details on the conditions of entry, see the Venue Entry Conditions.

STAY FOCUSED Because three different sports are hosted at the venue, take note of messages and directional information as you enter and leave the venue.

Boxing Two combatants stand toe-to-toe, determination in their eyes and fire in their

hearts. Lose concentration, even for a moment, and it’s all over. Part of the inaugural British Empire Games in 1930, Boxing is one of the Games’ longest-standing sports and it will put athletes’ speed, skill and stamina to the test.

Squash The world’s best athletes will show their superhuman speed, agility and reflexes

as athletes strive to out-manoeuvre their opponent. Set within four glass walls, Squash is intimate and intense. Medal events include singles and doubles.

Table Tennis Skilled athletes can slam a table tennis ball across the net at speeds in excess of

110km/h. Demanding speed, skill and focus, GC2018 Table Tennis will be contested across nine medal events including singles, doubles, team and para-sport.

• The weight of boxing gloves varies depending on the event. 10oz gloves are used in the men’s 46kg – 69kg weight categories and women’s categories. Men in the 69kg – 91+kg categories use 12oz gloves.

• Squash is played by more than 25

million people. There are nearly 50,000 courts in 185 countries all over the world.

GETTING THERE AND BACK

*Free public transport will be available for ticketed spectators travelling to and from competition venues on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane on the South East Queensland TransLink public transport network. Just show your GC2018 ticket upon boarding. Free travel will terminate at 3am the day after your event and is not available on the AirTrain service.

GC2018 is the largest sporting event Australia has seen this decade, so make sure you allow plenty of time for travel, queuing at transport hubs and security checks.There are many travel options to get you to and from Oxenford Studios and public transport is free with your ticket.* The earlier you plan your journey, the more you’ll enjoy your Games experience. Use the GC2018 Journey Planner to get started.

GET ACTIVE If you’re travelling locally, walking or cycling will be the easiest way to get to the venue. Bike parking is available near Oxenford Studios.

TAKE THE BUS Many bus routes, including TX7, will run frequently during the Games and can take you close to the venue.

CATCH THE TRAIN Catch the train to Helensvale station. From there, you can take a Games Shuttle close to the venue.

ACCESSIBLE TRANSPORTAccessible shuttle buses will be available and Park ‘n’ Ride spaces can be booked via the GC2018 Journey Planner. Plan your journey.

PARK ‘N’ RIDE Book a space at Damian Leeding Park ‘n’ Ride for the duration of your session. From here, you can take a Games Shuttle close to the venue. Spaces are limited and you must book a spot.

RIDE THE G:LINKWalk or catch a bus to the G:link light rail, then get off at Helensvale station and catch a Games Shuttle.
