If NEs, M2000 sever and M2000 clients are in different LAN segments, e.g. different IP subnetworks, M2000 server can take the role of an IP router, so there is no need to add routers in each subnetwork.

In detail, the network adapters in M2000 server can be configured with different IP addresses, each IP interfaces one IP subnetwork; the routes between these IPs can be configured in M2000 server. NEs, M2000 clients set their IP subnetwork gateway IP according corresponding IP.

Rules for WAN networking

Save customer investment

Reuse current networking equipments or use one networking mode if pos

sible

Reserve enough bandwidth for M2000

Generally, M2000 need 4 time slots for each NE, except NodeB, the maxi

mum requirement is 64 slots

Consider the backup O&M route

Don’t use the networks for service

Especially not use the same network for Signaling, Charging, etc.

Use exclusive network for O&M if possible

Assign IP properly (see next page)

Page 12: OWL000102 M2000 System Networking ISSUE1.1

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Page 12All rights reserved

Tips for WAN IP assignment

The LAN(s) connected to WAN must be in different IP subnetw

orks;

The LAN port(s) of a router must be in different IP subnetwork

s with the WAN port;

The WAN ports of each two routers communicated directly thr

ough WAN must be in same IP subnetwork;

If routers route to different destination, their WAN ports must b

e in different IP subnetworks;

Use Subnet Mask to split one IP subnetwork to several subnet

work for different LANs, to reduce the IP usage;

Reserve proper IP addresses for future expanding

Introduction of Router (Quidway3640)

As one of Huawei R2600/3600 modular router family, the

Quidway3640 provides up to four network interface slots and

can serve four multi-functional interface modules.

Normally configure:

E1 interface module

Ethernet interface module

V.35 interface modules

Page 17: OWL000102 M2000 System Networking ISSUE1.1

1. Configuring the HyperTerminal of Quidway3640 as same as 2501

2. Ethernet and V35 configuration are as same as 2501

3. E1 Configuration Command in Quidway3640

a) [Quidway] controller e1 0; Enter E1 config. mode

b) [Quidway-E1-0] frame-format no-crc4; Set the frame check mode

c) [Quidway-E1-0] channel-set 0 timeslot-list 1-4; Define channel groups and timeslots to be bound.
