Indonesia is a leading player in the global Seaweed sector. Indonesia fourth in seaweed
production after Chile, Marocco and Philipine. Indonesia hosts a number of world classseaweed productions, and is a favorite investment target for multinational corporations as
well as junior companies.
The Seaweed Industry is important to Indonesia, reason for being ranked fourth is the

reached 300,000 tones per year and this figure might increase. The Indonesian Seaweed
Society has targeted Indonesia to be the worlds leading seaweed producer by 2012.

implementing in Indonesian Regulation, Local Government with Local Government Owned
Enterprise ( BUMD ) much seriously invited an investor to develop seaweed industry. This

ANALYZING COMPETITION
The potential for the cultivation of seaweed in Mamuju at this timeis manage traditionally by the community with the supervisory fromthe regional government, but this matter still far from adequate ifbeing compare by the potential that is available.
Generally the seaweed farmer sold results of his cultivation to thebroker to afterwards be sold to the cross-section company inMakasar and Jakarta to satisfy the requirement for the exportmarket and domestic.
The investor 's participation to empower the potential for seaweedreally is hope for, both from the side of trade businessadministration and the development processing industry that havematerial the basis of seaweed.
