CausesCauses

Financial Framework: the increase of birthrate is connected to the need for more agricultural hands since, in the rural economy the family is the basic productive unit. Tradition: the stereotypes of the “third–world” societies led to large families and the subordination of the woman and her role in the society.

Page 10: Overpopulation slovenia project-english

CausesCauses

Ignorance: the low educational standard and the insufficient information of the people in the developing countries contribute to the increase of birth rates.

Reduced child mortality rates: by high-tech and cost effective measures such as vaccines, antibiotics and humanitarian aid from the developed countries to the low-income ones.

Effects of Overpopulation in the Effects of Overpopulation in the Natural WorldNatural World

The rapid growth of the population is obvious that will lead to more and more demand on food. This fact carries obvious effects on the environment from the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

We will soon come across an energy crisis as well, and the countries will be using anything possible, in order to cover the increasing global demand for power. This will lead to the depletion of the nature-based resources and further environmental degradation.

Overpopulation in GreeceOverpopulation in Greece

• Overpopulation in Greece has led to Urbanization. In modern Greece this phenomenon lies in the two large urban centers, Athens and Thessaloniki.

• There has also been observed a growing population density in certain neighborhoods of Athens, such as Kipseli, Kallithea and Pangrati.
