The pressing need to use professional outsourcing services is a growing global trend enabling organisations to expand capacity as
required and control costs. This is particularly true in Australia. It has been recognised by ‘The CEO International Forum’. following an in-
depth analysis of the continually soaring costs of employing professional staff in Australia, a paper was published in June 2014,
concerning the ever-increasing costs of in-country, in-house, professional services. Amongst the many things researched and discussed
in the paper was the inevitable conclusion that Australia “has become one of the highest cost, country operations, in the world”. More than
half of the companies surveyed for the paper ranked Australian companies “in the top 5% of global companies from a cost point of
view” with one CEO putting it in the top 1%!
Further quotations from the same paper reveal that the deterioration of Australia’s cost of doing business, has had two principal effects:
1) It now results in more and more back office activities, formally being performed locally - such as finance, procurement and
IT for example - are now being off-shored
2) A direct quote from the CEO of one of Australia’s leading companies “Why should we keep activities in Australia that we
can perform more cheaply elsewhere”.
