Project Outline

Introduction (Akhil Gupta) (10%)

• The Introduction will include mechanisms harnessing wind energy, types of available technology for this purpose, Modes of operation of such plants, Size and capacity relations

• The objective of the report is to answer “Does it make sense to put a wind turbine in your back yard?” We will take a look at the Factors affecting the power generation and then form baseline expectation. Comparing the cost per unit energy produced to the rate of grid energy, we will dwell on concepts of Economic sustainability. Later we can dwell on the impact on Carbon footprint to gauge environmental sustainability.

Objective Statement (Benjamin Radke) (10%)

• The objective of the report is to answer “Does it make sense to put a wind turbine in your back yard?”

Technical or Scientific State Of The Art (Akhil Gupta and Benjamin Radke) (20%)

• Power output calculation of Wind turbine and the capacity of storage systems required to store excess energy.

• Fixed cost of the installation. Estimation of running costs till break even. Estimation of breakeven by comparison of energy output to the incurred costs. Estimation of return on investment per annum after breakeven.

• Estimation of reduction in Carbon Foot print taking into account the Carbon foot print of Manufacture of Wind turbine itself.

Interpretation of Technical (Akhil Gupta and Benjamin Radke) (20%)

• Comparison of Carbon footprint impact per unit energy produced. • Comparing the ROI and Breakeven to other investment tools. and Monetary incentives

Sound conclusions (Eric Green)(10%)

• Final Conclusions about various parameters
