Adventure! Camp Fire has been providing outdoor education to students throughout the metropolitan area for more than two decades.

Situated on 33-acres of beautiful, wooded campgrounds, Outdoor Classroom takes place on Camp Fire’s Camp DaKaNi, located just 1/2 mile west of I-35 on Hefner Road. With a focus on nature and teaching students how to respect and protect our environment, the UPDATED Outdoor Classroom curriculum is science-based and helps meet objectives set forth in the Priority Academic Student Skills manual.

Affordable! • The cost is calculated on the percentage

of students participating in the free/re-duced lunch program at your school, with the maximum price being $5 per student. Some schools attend at no charge.

• All materials for on-site activities are provided: fishing poles, bait, etc! The curriculum is mailed to teachers in advance for their preparation. Everyone brings a sack lunch and drink.

• Outdoor Classroom excursions can be booked most weekdays beginning in August through mid-November and March through May.

• Camp DaKaNi—meaning “a day in the out-of-doors”—was established in 1956 by the Oklahoma City Council of Camp Fire. Outdoor Classroom is just one way your classroom or school can utilize our camp. To learn more about “GOTCHA”—our Great Outdoor Teaching Classroom Holiday Adventure, or to reserve any of our facilities for an upcoming event, contact us at 405.478.5646 or by E-mail at [email protected]

“In one day at Camp DaKaNi’s Outdoor School, we are able to cover skills in areas such as science, social studies, physical education, reading and writing.”

- J. Quinn 1st Grade Teacher, Stand Watie Elementary

“Camp DaKaNi’s Outdoor Classroom is the only field trip each year that all of our K-5th grades attend… Our stu-dents experience fishing, low ropes, and all kinds of experiences that most of our students would never be able to do…I have had former students come back and tell me how much they learned from having the opportunity to experience things ‘hands-on’ when they were little. Some of these former students are now parents going with their kids.”

- G. MearsPhysical Education Teacher, Stand Waite Elementary
