Melo Fall Dinner Craft & Bake Sale
September 11, 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. No Melo worship on
Sept 11.
SUNDAY SCHOOL BEGINS!
•Can hear the Holy Spirit in the chat-tering of small voices
•Is a light to the World
A teacher is someone who:
•Loves the Lord •Loves children •Can touch a life forever •Can make a life-saving
change •Should always be graciously
thanked •Knows that he/she doesn’t
know all the answers, but knows where to look for them
It has been a wet and warm summer. We look to God for favorable weather as the harvest has begun.
As I write this, school is about to begin. State Fair events are featured in the news. Farmer’s market signs are up. Corn, melons, and all sorts of veg-gies can be purchased.
Crickets chirp, bunnies hop, birds can be seen near and far.
The seasons are changing.
September worship begins with a focus on Labor Day Weekend and into the month. On September 11 the Adult Bible Study at Our Savior’s begins and Melo will be having their Fall Dinner. September 18 is Rally Day at OSL with the theme “Time Travelers”. During both services we will have the Blessing of the Backpacks. Kids bring your backpacks. Melo will also be hav-ing special events for Rally Day. See your bulletin for details. September 25 is a New member Sunday and we are hoping to have a representative from Thrivent during the coffee hour and after services at OSL.
Youth Events for those in grades 6-12 are moving right along. We had a great summer with most re-cent events: A great campfire at the parsonage and Lake Retreat at the Spidahl’s lake cabin on Cass Lake. We will be having a Belize Mission meeting on Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00 pm to discuss a location adjustment. It is very important to come to this meet-ing. Youth leadership Sunday is Sep-tember 25th.
Confirmation will be beginning on September 14 at 6:30 pm with an Orientation for Parents and Students. This is for students in the 7th and 8th grades. It is very important to be
present! The 9th grade will be meeting on Sunday, October 9 following the service at 11:45 am for their orienta-tion. The 10th grade will meet on Octo-ber 2nd following the service at 11:45 am in the OSL library.
OSL will be having their Fall Supper on September 21.
The Lydia/Phoebe Circle ladies also meet for Bible Study on Sept 9.
The Men continue to meet for Bible Study and fellowship on Thursday at 10:00 am.
Choir will be starting and Sun-day School Classes at OSL and Melo will begin in September
Melo is re-siding their church. We will be completing this project this fall with work days scheduled for Sep-tember 10 and September 17 from 8 am to 1 pm.
There is a lot going on! We would especially encourage families and kids to be present in worship. With the “Families First” emphasis there will be all sorts of possibilities to worship with your
kids.
Let us all seek to give our very best this Fall. Having strong, faith-based families is vital in our complex world today! Plan on giving your kids the very best God has!
See you in church,
Pastor Janet Warnes

Confirmation Classes Starting Up:
Will our children have faith? Confirmation is an important Educational Ministry of our Parish. It means that you as parents care enough to place the Holy Scriptures into the hands of your kids. It means that you want your children to know Christ in a deeper way. It means that you love your kids enough to give them the best.

Thought for the Week
With school starting up, practices and games, we find our-
selves coming and going.
It can be hard for tired eyes to see a great future. When we are tired we are not the same person. We don’t have the same patience and enthusi-
asm for life and life’s challenges.
When we are rested, it is eas-ier to reflect on life and make good
decisions.
When we are tired, mountains look bigger. When we are tired at night, things which normally appear simple suddenly feel very burdensome
and complex to us.
When we are tired, valleys seem deeper. Discouraging factors seem to enlarge. Disappointments seem keener and stronger when our body is worn out. When we are tired, offenses come easier. Little things become big. We begin to replay over in our mind the wrongs that people
have done to us.
Jesus understood this. That is why He encouraged His disciples to “come apart and rest awhile.” (Mark 6:31). Rest restores. Even just a few extra minutes can help us to be re-
newed. Take some time; rest awhile.

June 2016 Financial Report—Offering
OUR SAVIOR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH TREASURER’S REPORT June 2016
Has your life changed? When people experience a significant life change, they often seek guidance to help make important financial decisions. Life events may include:
Marriage: About two-thirds of married people say they disagree with their spouse about money.
Birth or adoption of a child: Adjusting your budget is important. So is evaluating your need for additional disability income and life insurance coverage, as well as considering college savings plans.
Inheritance: Many people plan for death, but often overlook the fact that they might receive a loved one’s legacy.
Retirement: Financially preparing for retirement, as well as appropriately tapping one’s financial assets in retirement, is key.
Talking with a financial professional about your values, goals and needs can help secure your financial future. For financial
guidance, contact Chad Erickson at 218-773-1181, or visit Thrivent.com. This article was provided by Thrivent Financial.
** Thrivent Members may look for ways to help their church and community with Thrivent Action Teams. Each member qualifies for two events per year. Also, please remember to designate your Choice Dollars by calling 1-800-
847-4836. These two items can be of great benefit to our churches and come with your membership. Thank you!

The Tuesday Quilter’s Group will resume our quilting afternoons on Sept 20th at 1 pm in the lower level of Our Savior’s. Our fearless leader, Kay, had back surgery and we wish her a speedy recovery and send her our best wishes, thoughts and prayers. She is going to try leading us once again, and we will see how it goes. Also, we are always looking for new
people to join us on Tuesdays as we enjoy fellowship and a little lunch and work on quilts for babies, children & adults in our local area and for world-wide distribution.
