History• In 1221 by Prince George

Vsevolodovich near the confluence of the Volga and the Oka was founded the boundaries of the Vladimir’s Principality which was called Novgorod Nizovckoy Land.

• In 1350, the city became the capital of the Principality of Suzdal Grand Duchy. In this time the Nizhny Novgorod lands were actively shared.

• As a result of the reforms of Peter I the great in 1714 Nizhny Novgorod became the county town.

• After the visit Of Catherine II in 1767 developed the first plan for the city, there are various cultural institutions.

• In 1817, on the left bank of the Oka River Russia's largest fair was moved from city Makareva. Nizhny Novgorod was nicknamed the "Rossia's Pocket".

• In the year 1932 in Nizhni Novgorod began working first automobile factory.

about 1 million 260 thousand people.

• There are more than 600 unique historical, architectural and cultural monuments. Chief among them is the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.
