A Message from the Padre
Every day is Respect Life Day. However, the Church in her wisdom calls October
Respect Life Month. This designation is a way of renewing within us profound gratitude for a
gift we all too often take for granted: the precious gift of life. Our theme for Respect Life
Month this year is “Every life is worth living.” Yes every life is worth living. In Christ Jesus,
we do not merely exist, we live. In Christ Jesus, we discover the meaning and purpose of life
and the importance of respecting life from conception to natural death.
Yet, the sad reality is that many in our world today are lukewarm to Jesus’ Gospel of
Life. Thus, we see horrific consequences. Life is reduced to a choice. Abortion is legalized in our country. We see de-
structive experimentation on human embryos. Assisted suicide and euthanasia are being promoted at alarming rates and the
elderly are being discounted. Concern for those on death row stirs controversy as does the call to embrace the immigrant
and the poor in our midst. All of these fall under the broad umbrella of the “Respect Life Program.” For all these issues we
are especially called this month to pray, proclaim and to live the Gospel of Life.
But fighting for the Gospel of Life is not always easy as there are many challenges we have to face that often lead
to ridicule and rejection. In the midst of these challenges, setbacks and disappointments, God is always on our side. He
simply asks us to be “patient” and must entrust all our efforts to Christ, his son, and to the care of Our Blessed Mother.
My dear friends in Christ, as the sun sets on the first Sunday of October, do not let Respect Life Sunday end as
merely a slogan. As the appointed Liaison to the Bishop for Family Life and Pro-life Activity for the Diocese of Trenton, I
ask you to pray especially this month of October and support the Diocesan activities in defending the sanctity of all human life, at the same time keeping in mind that all life is a gift of God to be cherished and respected and not ours to take.
Fr. Joe

The Twenty-Seventh
Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mark 10: 2-16
Today’s scripture passages
from Genesis and the Gospel of
Mark reveal images of faithful love between spouses. The Gos-
pel goes farther, including children in the equation. Listening to
these readings today, let us be mindful of those whose marriages
are a source of anguish, as well as families whose children are
not cared for and respected as they deserve. Let us open our-
selves to the power of God’s living word to transform us all into
faith-filled witnesses to God’s great works in all our human rela-tionships.

THANKSGIVING AT OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CHURCH
Feed-A-Family 2015
Every year our parish family par-ticipates in this special ministry for Thanksgiving to reach out to families who would not have this glorious meal without our help.
The Social Concerns Committee is asking you to consider putting together a Thanksgiving basket/dinner for a needy family.
This is how it works: Sign up on the form below and indicate the size of the family you would like to help. Once again, we have families with a pet or pets that need our help. As you shop for your own Thanksgiv-ing dinner, please shop for the other family, too. When you are finished, please pack the ingredients of the Thanksgiving meal, with all the trimmings in a basket. Kindly bring the basket to the church on your designated day and time so it can be delivered to the family you were assigned.
To sign up, just fill out the form below and return it to the Parish Office. You will receive detailed instruc-tions in the mail as we get closer to Thanksgiving. For further information, call 609-267-0230 ext. 16. Drop off weekend this year is November 21st & 22nd.
Please return entire form as soon as possible,
but no later than Friday, October 26, 2015
