MASS INTENTIONS

GOD’S WORDS Each day we are bombarded with thousands of words. From the moment our clock radios click on in the morning, until the last moment of the day when the television is turned off or someone bids us “good-night,” our life is filled with words. Some words that we hear bring news that leaves us feeling low. Some words lift our spirits. Many of the words we hear are trying to get us to buy something. Some words are hurtful. Today the Church focuses our attention on hearing the word of God. Are God’s words just more of the same—part of the endless stream of words that flow into our ears each day? The challenge today is to allow God’s word to inspire us in new ways so that our outlook and attitudes align themselves more closely with the heart and mind of Christ Jesus. Copyright © J. S. The daily mass on Tuesdays is now at 6:30 pm (and not at 8:00 am). This change is to allow for those people who work and cannot attend the morning weekday masses.

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN – SAFE ENVIRONMENT

All adult volunteers working with children or vulnerable adults in our diocese (including all catechists, teachers, coaches) must take a Protecting God’s Children Awareness Session, complete a background check and read 24 online bulletins (one per month for 24 months.) If you plan on working with either of these groups in the upcoming year, why not get started now on this process?

There is an online option for taking the Awareness Session in addition to a live session option with a trained facilitator. These sessions are offered in both English and Spanish. Step-by-step instructions to take the online training or to register for a live training session can be found at the diocese website http://www.renodiocese.org/safe-environment or on our parish website olsparish.com and click on forms to download the Protecting God’s Children Volunteer Packet.

The program is more than just information about the wrongdoers; it is designed to help all of us recognize signs and behaviors of predators and as well as those who are being abused.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2020-2021 Lay Ministry Formation and Leadership program.

You will:

• Learn more about theology, ministry, and liturgy

• Develop your Gospel-centered spirituality

• Improve your leadership skills

• Create a project that will benefit your ministry and your parish

• Learn more about the Diocese of Reno

Accommodations will be made for changes in the virus-related situation.

At the diocesan website: click on Our Works, then scroll down to Lay Ministry Formation & Leadership. Application forms and brochures are there.

Or contact Dr. Lauri Anne Reinhart for more information: [email protected]; 775-326-9431

Applications are due August 1st.
