The Catholic Church is the Church founded by Jesus

Christ; it is the same Church mentioned in the New

Testament of the Christian Bible. The term "Catholic"

means "according to the whole;" it was used early in the

Church's history to distinguish her from a number of

other gatherings whose teachings and practices were not

true to the authoritative teachings of Christ's apostles. All

human persons are invited and encouraged to accept the

salvation offered by Jesus through His one, holy, catholic

and apostolic Church by living the sacramental life offered

by the Catholic Church. It is the mission of Our Lady of

the Prairie Catholic Church to offer this life to the people

of Belle Plaine, Minnesota and its environs.

If you would like to become Catholic, please contact Fr.

Brian Lynch in person or by email at: [email protected].

Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 21, 2019

A Message from our

Deacon

WHAT IS A RETREAT? A Retreat is a time apart, to keep from coming apart.

A Retreat is a time to learn to love and experience of being

loved.

A Retreat is a flower that longs to be smelled and seen,

because it's beauty is ours.

A Retreat is a time to let God be us.

A Retreat is a time to look at the stars.

A Retreat is a trip into love.

A Retreat is an experience of adding un--to conditional love.

A Retreat is a retreat of ourselves.

A Retreat is God.

A Retreat is God Incarnate.

A Retreat is the Arms of God longing to hug us.

A Retreat is God's beckoning Love.

A Retreat is God whispering loudly.

A Retreat is Love waiting to happen.

A Retreat is Love of God for us.

A Retreat is love of self.

A Retreat is the key to peace.

A Retreat can change your life.

There are two great retreat places to make your retreat.

Franciscan Retreat House in Prior Lake, MN

16385 St. Francis Lane

Prior Lake, MN 55372

952-447-2182

Christ the King Retreat House

621 1st Avenue South

Buffalo, MN. 55313

763-682-1394

They have many different kinds of retreats. Some men only,

some women only, some for couples and some silent

retreats. Give them a call to obtain more information. You'll

wonder why you didn't make a retreat before.

PEACE and Happy Summer!

CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL UPDATE

As of July 9th, we have reached our 2019 Catholic Services Ap-

peal goal! Thank you to the 123 OLP families who participated

in supporting the 20 ministries that receive funding through the

CSA Foundation.

If you have not yet turned in your 2019 pledge and wish to help

out the 20 ministries that receive funding, there are additional

appeal envelopes at the back of the church or at the parish of-

fices. Feel free to drop off completed envelopes at the parish

offices or simply drop them in the Sunday offertory collection

basket.

As a reminder, since we have achieved our goal, OLP will receive

a rebate of 25% of the funds collected. Thanks again to all who

have participated in this appeal.

To learn more about the CSAF and the 20 ministries it helps to

support, please visit them at csafspm.org

Come check out the new format of the CCW Meeting, Thurs-day, August 1, 7:00 pm. Be sure to sign up for the evenings drawing!

SOCK DRIVE Catholic United Financial is having their 2nd

annual Sock Drive! Please bring new socks of

any size to be donated to those in need. Box

Meet Fr. Jose Putenparambil

Fr. Jose Putenparambil, from the

poorest Catholic diocese of Kerala,

India, will be at Our Lady of the

Prairie parish for a mission appeal

at all the Masses on the weekend

of August 10th and 11th. His dio-

cese is made up of the former low

caste and Untouchable people. The

Indian government does not provide any benefits for poor

Christians so the diocese has to try to provide for their needs

as they are able. Most only have day jobs which they call cool-

ie workers. Recently, India just re-elected a strong Hindu who

believes that all of India should be Hindu so the Christians are

concerned about further persecution. India is 80% Hindu

There will be a display of Fr. Jose's diocese in the back of

the church and he would love to talk to people after Mass.

FAMILIES MOVING FORWARD Our Lady of the Prairie will again participate in the Families

Moving Forward program when it hosts 4 homeless families

during the week of July 28th through August 4th. You can vol-

unteer by either making contact with the church office or by

signing up on line by using this browser:

This effort would be a wonderful way for each of us to live the

Gospel of Matthew.
