PASTOR’S CORNER

Welcome Parishioners and Visitors to Our Lady of the Mountains for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. We are delighted that you join us in celebrating the mysteries of our faith. We see Jesus in his role as “teacher” in today’s Gospel text from Matthew 5, the Beatitudes. Here the Lord presents himself to us as “The New Moses.” Moses, as we all know, was the great teacher of God’s Old Testament Law, a law that was rooted in the Ten Commandments. God first gave those commandments to Moses on Mt. Sinai, and when Moses came down the mountain he gave them to the people of Israel. Jesus, in this scene, presents the “New Law of the Gospel” to his disciples. These are commonly known as the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes are the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. If a person practices and lives the Beatitudes, he is guaranteed a place in Heaven. May each of us strive to live the Beatitudes each and every day of our lives. May God bless your week. Fr Joseph Thai Cao Pastor
