PASTOR’S COLUMN

Dear Community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, The Lord knows all that we live, our needs, in every detail of our lives, He is totally present. He gives us the Grace we need at every moment, all we have to do is ask Him with our hearts. “About five thousand persons reclined in the grass … Jesus took the five loaves … gave thanks

and distributed them to those who were reclining … as much as they wanted …” John In this miracle, we see our Lord’s generosity with all. He meets us where we are, and sup-plies all that we need. God, gives us faith! May this faith lead us to be like Jesus and treat others as He treats us.

“I … Paul … urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love …” Ephesians

In the Eucharist, we find all the Grace we need to live the call of Christ. He heals us, He in-spires us, He frees us, He makes us new. We are able to find the peace that has no end. Let us ask God to help us find the eternal treasure of the Eucharist and make it the center of our lives. Let us consecrate all that we live and are in our Communion with the Lord.

“The hand of the Lord feeds us … He censurers all our needs …” Psalm 145

Our Lady School News

My brothers and sisters,

The gospel says that the five thousand were only men were five thousand, who sat in the grass in that place. What does the food of Jesus mean for such a large number of guests?

Jesus has a lot of love for everyone, especially the simple, the poor, the sick, those who do not have the means to return the invita on. This is fulfilled in the mass, in which each of us who receive commun-ion receive Jesus, alive and glorious, healthy and whole, as food, comfort and strength to be and act like Jesus.

Blessings, Deacon Carlos

REMEMBER WHO IS MOST IMPORTANT IN A SUSPECTED ABUSE SITUATION

It can be difficult to inves gate abuse situa ons involving children, as they may be vulnerable to lies, threats or manipula on by the abuser. It is cri cal to remember that the vic m is the most im-portant in a suspected abuse situa on. “I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS”

Some mes God can seem distant and silent. Yet, he prom-ised to stay with us always (Ma hew 28:20). The same God who came to Bethlehem 2,000 years ago s ll comes to us now to live in our churches and our hearts. Today, be mindful of God’s loving presence. Ask him to help you grow closer to him.

A LITTLE Put yourself in the place of the boy in today’s Gospel. He had five barley loaves and two fish. Probably just enough for himself and his family, or a friend who made the journey to hear Jesus with him. What must he have thought, as he heard Andrew tell the Lord about the meal he had brought with him? Did he go to Andrew to tell him about the food, and offer it, or did someone no ce that he had the food and let the others know? However it came to pass, the boy’s gi s were called forth, and his small meal was given to the Lord. The boy trusted that in Jesus’ hands, his barley loaves and fish would be put to good use. Jesus blessed the loaves and fish and fed thousands with them. BECOMES A LOT In the hands of the Lord, the li le the boy’s food became a feast for many. Each of us has been given par cular gi s and talents—the minutes, hours, and days that make up our lives, and material and financial resources. We may feel that it is barely enough for us. We might hesitate before we give anything to an-other, out of fear that we will not have enough, or simply because we do not let the need of the other into our mind and heart. Like the boy in the Gospel, our gi s may seem insignificant; we may feel that the li le we have is not enough to truly make a difference in the life of another. Any who have given of themselves in service know that very o en the opposite is true, how-ever. We gain so much more than we give! Our gi s are called forth in community. We must trust that in giving for the sake of another, God’s love will be known and shared. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc

do. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc
