Our Mission — Nuestra Misión
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, has been serving the
com-munity of South Ozone Park and beyond since 1923. We are a
diverse multi-ethnic Catholic community in a neighborhood of people
of many faiths. We are called in Baptism to proclaim the presence
of Christ in Word and are nourished with the Body and Blood of
Christ in Communion. We follow Jesus Christ proclaiming him to
parish and neighborhood; and we use our gifts and talents to serve
others.
La parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro ha estado
sirviendo a la gente de South Ozone Park y los alrededores desde
1923. Somos una comunidad Católica diversa y muti-étnica en un
barrio con gente de diferentes religiones. Estamos llamados por
medio del Bautismo a proclamar la presencia de Cristo por medio de

Call the Rectory to make an appointment with the pastor. The
child’s birth certificate must be provided. Attendance at the
baptismal class is required for parents and godparents. Si desea el

MINISTRY OF THE SICK
MINISTERIO DE LOS ENFERMOS We will respond to emergency calls at
any time. Any parishioner unable to attend Mass due to illness or
old age, should contact the Rectory and arrange for a priest or
extraordinary minister to bring them Holy Communion. Responderemos

Chilly in Church? We apolo-gize for our need to open a few
windows in the church even dur-ing this cold spell. We have
re-ceive orders to combat the pan-demic by providing more
ventila-tion in the church, we pray soon this will not be
necessary.

Our public celebrations will be a little different for a
while:
1– At this moment we are only allowed 25% of the church’s
capacity. Many of the pews are blocked off. Please use the seats
that are NOT blocked. This will ensure social distancing.
2– NO missalettes and/or song books will be available because
the virus could be transmitted by the sharing of this worship
aids.
3– Masks must be worn at all times. Make sure you bring your own
mask.
4– NO sign of peace or hand holding during the Our Father.
5-The precious Blood will not be distributed.
6– There will be NO procession or recession and no bringing up
of the gifts.
7– Maintain social distancing on the communion line.
8– NO Altar servers are permitted at this time.

from Loyola Press that is bi-lingual and recommended by the Diocese

En primer lugar hablaba con autoridad, su propia au-toridad. Esa
era diferente a la de los escribas, cuyas enseñanzas dependían de

mostraba su autoridad sobre espíritus sucios. Era capaz de
confrontar , en si-lencio, y expulsar el espiritu que había tomado
posesión del desafortunado hombre en esta historia. Tales
exor-cismos muestran la Victoria final del reino de Dios so-bre el
mal y la muerte. Señor, yo me enfrento a un mundo de violencia,
avaricia, hambre y maldad. Yo lu-cho para creer que Tu superaste al
demonio. Ayúdame a ver que Tu estás trabajando en los pequeños
signos de amor, justicia y verdad alrededor mio. He probado la
amargura de los sueños rotos; he conocido la falta de vida en mis
caminos. Mis necesidades devoradoras eran el Dios que yo adoraba,
yo hablaba de Dios con un co-razón vacío, pero Tu señor no me
olvidas, Tu me sanas a través del coraje de Tu amor generoso. En
algún momento de sus vidas, las personas pueden sentirse llevadas a
caer de rodillas, por urgencias y de-safios que son demasiado
fuertes para ellos. Entonces necesitan buscar un poder sobre y más
allá de ellos. Je-sus con ese poder detrás de El, llega muy cerca a
cada uno de nosotros, en sus enseñanzas, en la comunidad Cristiana
y en la Iglesia.
Firstly, he teaches with authority-his own authority– this was
different from the scribes whose teaching was depend-ent on what
others had said or written. Secondly, Jesus shows his authority
over unclean spirits. He is able to con-front, silence, and expel
the spirit that has taken possession of the unfortunate man in the
story. Such exorcisms point to the ultimate victory of the kingdom
of God over evil and death. Battle lines are being drawn here,
Jeus, we already know, possesses the Holy Spirit and carries the
Good News of God’s love for humankind. The unclean spirit
rep-resents whatever forces dominate people and make them less
free. Such life sapping dynamics are found right across human life:
in family relationships, in religious teaching, in politics, in
economics and so on. All misuse of power is included. We see it
everywhere. But for Jesus, power is simply for the service of
others, as in his healing scene.
