“Do you believe in the Son of Man?” Jesus wants to motivate each one of us to see the truth. After devel-oping a relationship with Jesus, the blind man “sees” as someone very special. The Pharisees, due to the blindness caused by their ignorance, prejudice, and need for self-preservation, still remain blind. Presup-positions, prejudices, assumptions, and our needs can easily blind us to truth. We see what we want or need to see and not what is really there. In addition, our stubbornness continues to convince us that we are right and that our vision is perfect. Only God can complete the picture. Look around at our world. So much of what is hap-pening today is due to the reluctance of folks to allow themselves to be stretched and brought to see what is really there. Many react to what life presents to them more with the lenses of ignorance than lenses of clar-ity. The Gospel carries great transformative value. With it, God corrects our vision and replaces our lim-ited sight with the fullness of his sight. God opens our eyes so that we can see that it is not about pre-serving what we have created but of living in the im-mensity and wonder of God’s kingdom. Through a simple, loving relationship with God, we can break through the tethers of prejudice, eradicate fear, dispel the darkness of hatred and sin, discover freedom, live in peace, work for justice, be effective stewards of creation, assist the migrant and the immi-grant, and safeguard our economic systems and poli-cies so that they truly serve all of God’s children. What we see is often an artificial lie. Our truth is much bigger than what our limited sight believes it to be. Allow God to work in and through you. Do not be afraid. Be open and be humble enough to know that you need help. Many human beings are living with severe cataracts that produce sight that is at best blurred. Are you one of them? ©LPi
Estamos en un punto culminante de la Cuaresma. La semana pasada escuchábamos el dialogo entre Jesús y la mujer samaritana. Ahora, la Liturgia nos sitúa en el encuentro de Jesús con el ciego de nacimiento. Aquí, el Evangelio nos muestra varios niveles de conversación con diferentes persona-jes: El ciego, los fariseos, los judíos y los padres del hombre. Fijémonos que el centro de la conver-sación era sobre el poder ver. El ciego fue curado y todos se resistían a creer que veía. Estamos, ya, en el cuarto Domingo de Cuaresma y cabe que nos preguntemos lo siguiente: ¿Vemos realmente la gracia de reconciliación que nos da este tiem-po? Sobre los milagros diarios que percibimos en la vida que Dios nos da, ¿los vemos? La Cuaresma nos invita a la conversión y al en-cuentro con Jesús, en el cual nosotros escogemos seguir a Jesús o darle la espalda. ¿Cuál escoges? Somos hijos e hijas de la luz por el Bautismo. De-jemos, pues, que la Palabra de Dios penetre en nuestro corazón y digamos de rodillas como el ciego de nacimiento, “creo, Señor.” (Juan 9:38) Santa Teresa de Calcuta con la siguiente oración nos ayuda a que esparzamos el aroma de Cristo y con ello iluminemos al que nos rodea: “Dulce Je-sús, ayúdanos a esparcir tu aroma donde quiera que vayamos. Inunda nuestras almas de tu espíri-tu y tu vida. Posee toda nuestra existencia hasta tal punto que toda nuestra vida solo sea una ema-nación de la tuya. Brilla a través de nosotros, y mora en nosotros de tal manera que todas las al-mas que entren en contacto con nosotros puedan sentir tu presencia en nuestra alma. March 22, 2020 Fourth Sunday of Lent
As you all have heard, the Governor has mandated to close all schools from March 1 6-March 27. bishop Olmstead emailed all of the Administrators, late Sunday, and advised us to follow the request of the governor. At this time Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School will be closing from March 16-March 27. If anything should change families will be notified immediately. We are taking every precaution for the safety of all students, teachers, and families. We are disinfecting the entire school grounds and will shut down all use of the school campus until further notice.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen

Prayer During an Epidemic
Lord Jesus,
Hear our pleas, our good shepherd and divine physician. We implore your mercy in the wake of an outbreak of serious illness and disease. Guide our efforts to prevent conta-gion and make preparations to care for those most vulnerable. Assist all professionals and volunteers who work to eradicate the epidem-ic now spreading. May our actions be marked by your steadfast love and selfless service and never by panic or fear. Bestow your comfort and healing to the sick, sustain and strengthen them by your grace. May they know your closeness as they carry the cross of illness. And may all you have called from this life come to worship you eternally with all the saints as you grant consolation and peace to their mourners. Amen. Holy Mary, Health of the Sick, pray for us. St. Joseph, Hope of the Sick, pray for us. St. Rocco, protector against epidemics, pray for us.
Mass of the Holy Oils “Chrism Mass” will be celebrated private-ly, with oils to be distributed to the clergy at the Diocesan Pasto-ral Center for those in Maricopa County. The Sacred Oils will be overnighted to the parishes in the rest of the Diocese

Daily Masses in English and Spanish are televised on EWTN. Sunday Mass in English is available on Channel 7 at 9:00am on Sunday mornings. Sunday Mass in Spanish is available on ESNE TV 41.3 at 11:30am on Sunday mornings. Weekday and Sunday Mass Intentions will be fulfilled through private Masses by the priests during the week.

We continue our series on the parts of the Mass.
After the RESPONSORIAL PSALM we are ready to
listen to the 2nd Reading. (Note, at daily Mass there is
only a 1st reading, Psalm and Gospel most days)
The reading, sometimes called an epistle, is from a
letter written to people in the early Church by one of
the Apostles. Even though these letters were originally
written for people in a particular place and time, the
Holy Spirit makes the words come alive for us today
so we can hear them and understand how to live for
Jesus.
Our part is to listen attentively. That means we sit up
straight, quiet our bodies, put other thoughts out of our
mind and listen and try our best to understand the
meaning of the reading. At the end of the reading the
lector says, “The Word of the Lord” and we respond
in a way that shows we mean it, “Thanks be to God.”

Continuamos nuestra serie en las partes de la misa. Después del SALMO RESPONSORIAL estamos lis-tos para escuchar la segunda lectura. (Nota, en la Misa diaria, la mayoría de los días, solo hay una primera lectura, el Salmo y el Evangelio) La lectura, a veces llamada epístola, proviene de una carta escrita a personas de la Iglesia primitiva por uno de los Apóstoles. Aunque estas cartas fueron escritas originalmente para personas en un lugar y tiempo en particular, el Espíritu Santo hace que las palabras co-bren vida para nosotros hoy, para que podamos escu-charlas y entender cómo vivir para Jesús. Nuestra parte es escuchar atentamente. Eso significa
que nos sentamos derechos, tranquilizamos nuestros
cuerpos, sacamos otros pensamientos de nuestra men-
te y escuchamos y hacemos nuestro mejor esfuerzo
para comprender el significado de la lectura. Al final
de la lectura, el lector dice: "Palabra del Dios" y res-
pondemos de una manera que demuestra que lo deci-
mos en serio: "Te Alabamos Señor".
