Howdy,
Many of you have requested that we
begin Online Giving here at OLPH.
Many parishes have successfully used
this convenient way for you to make
your contributions to the parish. We
have researched a number of companies
and have decided to begin this month.
More information will be available
soon.
Giving online allows you to have your
donation deducted every month from
your checking account, or you can have
it added to your credit card (if you
collect points this can be an advantage).
You do not have to remember to bring
your envelope every Sunday and it
helps us to budget better for the parish.
Also, we save money because we do
not have to send you envelopes.
Finally, you can plan your tithing,
which is better stewardship of God’s
blessing to you.
Sounds like a win-win, right? Please
consider using online giving if it is a
help for you.
Pax,
Father Mike
Que tal,
Muchos de ustedes han solicitado que
usemos un sistema de contribuciones
electrónicas aquí en OLPH. Muchas
parroquias han utilizado esta forma
conveniente para hacer sus contribucio-
nes a la parroquia. Hemos investigado
Final-
mente, puede planificar su ofrenda, que
es una mejor administración de las
bendiciónes de Dios para usted.
Esto parece ser un gran beneficio,
¿verdad? Considere usar el sistema en
línea si es una ayuda para usted.
Paz,
Padre Mike

Un verdadero líder
Aprendemos buenas y malas conductas
familia, esperando obediencia y servicio. Creen
emular.
Comparte esto con tu cónyuge. Como esposo,
¿tienes una tendencia a dominar y controlar?
Ábrete; discute esto con tu cónyuge. Tu familia
quiere amarte, no temerte.
Comienza a servir a tu
Te
sorprenderá cómo estarán dispuestos a seguirte
si los amas y los sirves.

A True Leader
We learn good and bad behaviors from our families
of origin. As adults we must analyze what was
healthy in our parent’s relationship and what was
destructive. Removing the destructive tendencies
from our lives can take years of hard work, prayer
and frequent reception of the sacraments to rid our-
selves from the same behavior. A destructive be-
havior that many young men must identify and re-
move is one of control. They mistakenly perceive
being the head of the family as a position of ruling
over wife and family, expecting obedience and ser-
vice. They think control through force, manipula-
tion, threats, coercion and anger are the methods to
be used to achieve this end. This makes for a very
unhappy home.
No one wants to follow a tyrant. To be a leader, one
must have a following. The best of all leaders was
Jesus who has led His Church with patient love for
2,000 years through every possible persecution,
scandal and cultural threat. His Church continues to
grow with a following of one billion Catholics
worldwide. Jesus is a gentleman and invites us to
follow Him and is never controlling or manipula-
tive. Jesus, the humble, obedient servant of the Fa-
ther died for His Bride, the Catholic Church. The
loving, selfless leadership of Jesus is the model for
all husbands and fathers to emulate.
Share this with your spouse. As a husband, do you
have a tendency to dominate and control? Be open;
discuss this with your spouse. Your family wants to
love you, not fear you. Attend reconciliation; ask
God the Father to help you be more like His humble
Son. Begin to serve your family every day in every
way. You will be surprised how they will be open
to following you if you love and serve them.
Are you suffering from Domestic Violence?

aprender a amar sacrificialmente.
ciar.

Immediately after the discussion about divorce
in today’s Gospel, Jesus takes a strong stand
for children with these words, “Let the
children come to me. . .”
Today’s culture often stresses the “right” of
women and men to divorce without reminding
them of the solemn promises they made at
their wedding. Friends and even counselors
encourage spouses to split up instead of doing
the hard work of learning how to love sacrifi-
cially. Parents are often told not to worry about
the children, and that they are “resilient”, but
the truth is that divorce does grave harm to
children who are not yet able to put their own
feelings into words. All children deserve a
mother and father who are willing to work
together to make one safe home for their
family to live and grow.
Today let’s pray for those in our parish who
are tempted to give up on the relationship with
their children’s mother or father, that they
would find the strength and courage they need
to make Christ the center of their family life
and to ask for help instead of giving up.
