THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER Jn 21:1-19 Today’s Gospel tells the story of how Peter, in af-firming his commitment of love to Jesus, is called to nurture Jesus’ flock. St. Francis de Sales urges us to be disciples like the apostles and bring God’s Word to others. Three times Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him. Pe-ter’s heart was completely filled with love for His Master. Peter was lifted up again by God’s providence. Love is the universal means of our salvation. God’s love must always hold first place in our hearts. Let us waste no time and place ourselves entirely in the arms of Divine Providence. So loving is God’s hand as it handles our hearts! What does God expect from you if not what was asked of the Apostles. It was nothing else than what Our Lord himself came to do in this world: to give love to all so that they may live a more abundant life. He did it by giving them His grace. Grace has the power, not to overpower, but to entice our hearts to consent to the movements of God’s love in us. As mush as possible, we must touch the hearts of others like the angels do, delicately and without coercion. While we ought to help and express our love to all equally, we must do it more so to those who have a greater need of us. Lead them to a more perfect life. They will find fullness of life by believing in Jesus’ word that you will explain to them. They will live a more abundant life through the example you are. Go confidently and courageously, doing what you are entrusted to do. Do not say “I am not up to the task.” Go ahead without worrying and turning back, for God will give you what you have to say and to do at the proper time. Have only one concern: to grow in your love and fidelity to God’s divine goodness and everything will turn out well for you. (Oblates of St. Francis de Sales)

RESPECT LIFE…

“IN THE SHADOW OF YOUR WINGS I WILL TAKE REFUGE”

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you He will not fail you or forsake you.” Psalm 34:19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all. John 10:28-30 …and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. “I and the Father are one.” Isaiah 41:10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ 2 Chronicles 14:11 Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said, “LORD, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the power-ful and those who have no strength; so help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name have come against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; let not man prevail against You.”

TIME, TALENT & TREASURE

This Week’s Stewardship of Time and Talent In gratitude for God’s gifts of time and talent to use, we grate-fully salute our Clerical & Mailing Volunteers.

Stewardship Thought for the Week Today in the first reading, we see the apostles put their Faith-in-Action by not surrendering to the demands of the Sanhed-rin. Despite being warned to stop speaking of Jesus and demonstrating their faith, the apostles continue to evangelize. By standing tall, along with St. Peter, they serve to remind us to obey God rather than man.
