The Week Ahead in our Parish

Food Pantry Many people only donate to food pantries at holiday times, but we want to thank you, for being so consistent all year round, with your generous giving. No matter what time of the year it may be, you have never stopped sharing with those less fortunate. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Donations to our Food Pantry consist of non-perishable foods: such as soups, sauces, pasta, rice, ce-reals, dry milk, canned vegetables, as well as toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, etc.) Please check expi-ration dates before donating food. If the food is out of date, kindly discard.

Stewardship We have an obligation to share with others, that which God has given us. Share your time, and talents. Men and women can become involved in the life of our Parish by becoming an Altar Server, Catechist, Choir Member, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Lector, and/or Usher. By taking an active role in the liturgical life, and service of the Parish, you can have a wonderful experience. We are especially in need of men and women to volunteer their time as Lectors and Eucha-ristic Ministers. Feel free to fill out the form on page 5 and drop it in the collection basket or call the rectory.

Divine Mercy Sunday We will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27. The schedule is as follows: Sac-rament of Reconciliation, Divine Mercy Chaplet and Adoration at 3 p.m., and Mass at 4 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Word of Life “God is the source of life; thanks to his breath, man has life. God’s breath sustains the entire journey of our life on earth.” ~Pope Francis, Holy Mass for Evangelium Vitae Day, 2013

~We will celebrate a chil-dren’s Mass every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. All children and parents are encouraged to attend. ~There are no CCD classes on April 27. ~Registration has begun

for the 2014-2015 school year. Before and after all Masses on Sunday, May 4, Sister Mary Rose will be in the Church entrance to accept registrations. Registration forms can also be downloaded by visiting our website or you can pick them up at the rectory during office hours. ~Children will receive their First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 11 during the 12:15 p.m. Mass.

Our Front Steps are Fixed! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the Women’s Auxiliary for their generous donation to help us fix our front steps! The dedicated ladies work tirelessly all year long in their fundraising

efforts to support our parish. We are truly blessed!

Monthly Filipino Mass Beginning in May, the Filipino Mass will be discontinued.

2nd Sunday of Easter “Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’” JOHN 20:19 Are you good at making people feel welcome? When you meet someone new, a new neighbor, a new work col-league, a new parishioner, do you make them feel at home? Many of us can probably do a much better job at this. When we make people feel welcome, we make them feel like they are included instead of being excluded. A simple “hello” and a smile goes a long way.

Troubled Marriage? Visit www.retrouvaille.org (a Catholic based program open to all faiths). The next week-end experience is scheduled for May 2-4 at Holiday Inn in Clark. For registration and more information, call (973) 723-7090.

The Catholic Advocate is now available online. Visit www.rcan.org

Why is it Important to Register as a Part of our Parish Family? Registration is the official way we join a parish community. Many people think because they attend a particular parish, they automatically belong. Membership requires signing up and formally enrolling yourself in the par-ish. Registration is more than filling out some forms. Registration is a commitment to a community, a way to be included in the religious, social and ministerial activities of a parish. Reg-istration not only shows you belong, but may be neces-sary for certain benefits, like scheduling sacraments, ob-taining sponsorship certificates, participating in religious education programs and getting donation statements for tax purposes. Are you registered with us? If you’re not sure, don’t hesitate to contact the office. If you need to register, just fill out the form on page 5 and drop it in the collection basket. We’ll take care of the rest. You can also download a registration form by visiting our website.

Important Reminder… Food and beverages are not allowed in the Church. We have been finding trash of all kinds in the pews lately. Please respect our Lord’s House and kindly eat meals at home before or after Mass. Thank you for your coopera-tion.

Monthly 50/50 Tickets On Sale Now! Buy your tickets after all weekend mass-es or stop by the rectory during office hours. Next Drawing: Sunday, May 25, 1:15 p.m. Raffle tickets make fabulous gifts for every occasion. Remember, if you win, you must produce your stub,

so hold on to it!

2014 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal This year the theme of the Appeal is When I Called, You Answered. It comes from Psalm 138 where the psalmist thanks God for hearing his prayer. God calls us also and we an-swer in many ways. The Archbishops Annual Appeal (AAA) is one way God calls and our participation is our an-swer to Him. The AAA provides the

poor with food, shelter and clothing; makes religious edu-cation, spiritual guidance and CYO athletics available for the young; ensures the future leadership of the Church with seminarian education and training; and most im-portantly, brings Christ’s Good News to the people of the Archdiocese. Supporting the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal is our thanks to God for hearing our prayers. Pencils and AAA envelopes will be located in the church pews and in the back of the church. Thank you.

Easter lasts for 50 days. It lasts until the Feast of the Pentecost. ~Fr. Kevin
