Preparing for Next Sunday 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The first reading from Sirach reminds us that God has a special love for the weak and oppressed, the orphan and the widow. The second reading exhorts us to persevere in faith and keep our eyes fixed on heaven. In the Gospel, Jesus tells the parable about the Pharisee and the tax collector.

La primera lectura del Eclesiastico nos recuerda que Dios tiene un amor especial por los pobres y oprimidos,

los huerfanos y las viudas. La segunda lectura nos exhorta a perseverar en la fé y tener nuestros ojos puestos en el cielo. En el Evangelio, Jesús nos habla de la parabola del Fariseo y el Recaudador de impuestos.

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time Today’s theme is perseverance - Moses keeping his hands upraised throughout the battle, Paul urging Timothy to stay with the task of preaching and teaching, and the widow appealing to the corrupt judge. To be faithful stewards of God’s gifts, we, too, must persevere in the roles to which we are called.

29o Domingo de Tiempo Ordinario El tema de hoy es la perseverancia – Moises manteniendo sus manos elevadas a través, de la batalla. Pablo exhortando a Timoteo a permanecer en lo que ha predicado y aprendido, y la viuda apelando a la corrupción del juez. Para ser fieles administradores de los regalos de Dios, nosotros, también, debemos perseverar en el papel al cual hemos sido llamados.

With a deficit of $3,138.86 this week, we cannot operate the church. I beg you to take seriously your commitment to God through your church. Please consider increasing your offerings. You can use your envelope with a check or cash or you can just donate with your credit or debit card. You can donate online at mtcarmelalive.org or in the parish office. Remember it is important to give your offerings weekly even if you are not physically present.

Confirmation All Souls Candles Confirmation II 2017 candidates will be taking orders for All Souls candles before and after all Masses. The candles will be displayed on the rosary walk at the All Souls Mass on Wednesday, November 2. Pre-sale $7 by October 23. Sunday Tutorials and Fourth Sunday Candidates Session 2017 candidates are reminded to attend Sunday Tutorials at 9:30 AM on Sunday, October 16, in the Parish Center. The Fourth Sunday Candidates Session will be on October 23 at 9:30 AM in the Parish Center. Please bring your Bible, notebook, and pen. Fourth Sunday Family Mass 2017 parents are reminded to attend the 12:00 PM Fourth Sunday Family Mass with their candidates on Sunday, October 23. Year of Mercy Celebration The Parish Community is invited to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Mercy as it draws to an end in November. On Friday, November 18th, join us for an evening of music, prayer and scripture in the style of Taizé. There will be opportunities for reconciliation and adoration of the blessed sacrament. On Saturday, November 19th, we will "Discover Mercy" as we listen and share stories of how God has shown us his mercy in our lives. Please join us for this unique event for the Year of Mercy. Celebración del Año de la Misericordia La Comunidad Parroquial está invitada a celebrar el año Jubilar de la Misericordia que llega a su fín en noviembre. El viernes 18 de Noviembre acompáñenos a una noche de música, oración y sagradas escrituras en el estilo de Taizé. Será una oportunidad de

reconciliación y adoración de los santos sacramentos. El sábado 19 de Noviembre nosotros “descubriremos la Misericordia” oiremos y compartiremos historias de cómo Dios nos muestra su misericordia a través de nuestras vidas. RCIA Meeting Parents, there will be an RCIA meeting for students who haven't been baptized and have been in Faith Formation last year this Tuesday, October 18th at 6:30 PM in the evening.

1st Communion 1st Communion classes will be on Thursday, October 20th at 6:30 PM. Please bring your baptism certificate at that time and your payment for your balance.
