BEYOND EASTER SUNDAY

In aching silence,

experiencing death in her heart

and yet,

not dying,

Mary pondered the agony of her Son.

A gentle face

tender smile

a warm voice asked:

“Woman, why are you weeping?

Has the Angel,

who first announced to you

the birth of Love,

not yet announced to you

that Christ is risen from the dead?"

Raising her tearful and sorrowful glance,

the Immaculate gazed into his eyes.

Quivering and trembling she cried:

“Son!"

And pressed him to her heart

Omaha Gives! is a year-round online giving platform organized by the Omaha Com-

munity Foundation to grow philanthropy in our area. Each year, there is a 24-hour

online giving event in May to celebrate nonprofits. This year's giving day will take

place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. However, new this year, in addition to the big

day on May 23rd, you can now schedule donations throughout the month! From May

1st-May 22nd, you can go online to schedule as many donations as you would like and still participate in the big

day as well. The goal is to inspire the community to come together for 24-hours to give as much as possible to

support the work of public 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the metro area.

Be part of Omaha Gives Day and support your School and Parish. For more details and instructions for giving

online, please go to omahagives.com. You can also go directly to the Our Lady of Lourdes page at https://

www.omahagives.org/OLLOmaha/ to begin scheduling donations as of May 1st. Please keep an eye on our web-

site ollomaha.com and the upcoming May Good News for more information on this wonderful “giving” event!

Alex will take part in the 2018

Nebraska National Geograph-

ic State Bee on April 6 at the

University of Nebraska-

Omaha. Buescher was noti-

fied by the National Geo-

graphic Society that he is one

of the semifinalists for this competition, now

in its 30th year. School Bees were held in

schools with fourth- through eighth-grade stu-

dents throughout the state to determine each

school champion. School champions then took

a qualifying test, which they submitted to the

National Geographic Society. The National Ge-

ographic Society has invited

up to 100 of the top-scoring

students in each of the 50

states, the District of Colum-

bia, Department of Defense

Dependents Schools and U.S.

territories to compete in the

State Bees. Here, Alex is pic-

tured with his geography teacher Mr. Jourdan.
