Philip the deacon catechized and baptized several new Christians, and then the Apostles came and “confirmed” that grace by laying hands upon them. On Sunday, many youth from our Pastorate will be confirmed by Bishop Madden, a successor to the Apostles. The Living tradition of the Church continues in our community! We are united with all who have gone before us. Jesus promises this Advocate - the Holy Spirit – who will remain with us and guide us. Pray for our young people and their families, that this grace will lead them to a deeper relationship with Jesus and empower them to share Christ with the world. In God’s Peace, Fr. Our Lady of Hope and St. Luke Parishes are now able to accept online donations through Give Central, our new online giving service. Give Central is a safe, secure, and paperless way to make your contribution. It was designed specifically for Catholic Parishes and Schools. If you are accustomed to paying bills online, this may be for you. Please visit www.GiveCentral.com to set up your donations. Flyers with instructions are available in the vestibule.

Parish Visitors take time to visit the home- or nursing-homebound and bring the Blessed Sacrament to them when they cannot make it to church. Every other Monday, they visit Future Care residents (on North Point Rd.) for a Communion Service and fellowship; and many take Communion to friends confined to their homes. If you are interested in helping, contact Fr. Austin or Pat Nies, at 410-288-1662.

If you or a family member would like a visit from a Parish Visitor or a priest or deacon feel free to contact the parish Office.

If you or a loved one is ever hospitalized, undergoing surgery, homebound, or entering hospice care, the Sacrament of the Sick (Anointing) is available for comfort and peace. Families are asked to contact Fr. Austin or Fr. Greg as soon as possible to celebrate the Sacrament with them. Please, do not wait until it seems like the end! There is no “expiration date” on Anointing, so God’s grace is always at work. The Priests are happy to celebrate the Sacrament after any Mass or to schedule a visit as needed.

Our St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry collects non-perishable food goods for distribution to our neighbors in need. Items needed include mac & cheese, soup, canned veggies, pasta, pasta sauces, coffee, & tea. Distribution takes place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month, from 10am to noon. We also assist the needs of the homeless in our area through our participation in the Streets of Hope program in East Baltimore County. Streets of Hope is a coalition of churches seeking to provide a safe, warm place to meet the basic needs of the homeless. Much help is needed. There is a shortage of people to wash the bedding so our 16 men can have clean sheets to sleep on; and also drivers to transport men a short distance. For more volunteer opportunities, visit www.churchesforSOH.org, or call Barbara Nock, Dir. of Volunteers, at 301-807-8604. Join us at the Boulevard Diner, 1660 Merritt Blvd on Sunday, May 7th from 4-10pm. Just mention that you are dining to support Streets of Hope and the organization will receive 15% of the proceeds. Enjoy an evening without cooking and help the homeless in our area. For more information call Jane Hendricks 443-242-7819. Come out to watch the Orioles vs. Indians and support Churches for Streets of Hope Wednesday, June 21, 2017 game time 7:05pm. Section 372 Tickets $15. All fans attending receive a t- shirt for more information call Jane Hendricks at 443-242-7819. The loss of a loved one is a devastating experience. We seek to provide comfort and support to those grieving this loss through our New Beginnings group. The group meets for lunch at the Boulevard Diner each Wed. at 1pm, and they have many outings and activities for fellowship and support. Call Irene Spatafore, at 410-284-5275, for more information.
