Jesus wants to make us whole! Listen to the Word (Mark 1:40 — 45) As you hear this reading about a leper being cured and telling everyone about it, what words or phrases strike you? What in this reading touches your heart? Look into your life Question for children: What do you want to ask Jesus to do for you? Question for youth: How has Jesus touched your life? How are you changed because of that touch? Question for adults: Name a time when you experienced Jesus’ healing touch. Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: Make a coupon for each member of your family. Draw a heart on each coupon. In the heart, write down something you will do for them to bring Jesus' healing touch. Jesus wants us all to be whole and healthy. What part of your life would you like Jesus to touch and heal? Ask your child to tell you about people he or she knows who may feel left out. Plan with your child ways he or she can reach out to this person. Be sure to demonstrate to your child the love and support and confidence you have in him or her. Share with your child his or her success in reaching out to others. Let your child know that you are proud of him or her. Discuss these questions with your family: Who are the outcasts in our community? Why are they considered outcasts? What should be a Christian's approach to them? What is our family's response?

Sexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario En el pasaje de Levítico, Moisés y Aarón son instruidos por el Señor sobre cómo manejar los casos de lepra. En el Evangelio de San Marcos, Jesús muestra una gran compasión al leproso que le pide la sanación y cura al hombre, el que luego proclama públicamente la maravilla de su curación. San Pablo nos anima a imitar a Cristo en todas las cosas. Es imprescindible, por tanto, que nosotros, también, mostremos compasión y amor a los marginados de nuestros días.

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time In the passage from Leviticus, Moses and Aaron are instructed by the Lord on how to handle leprosy cases. In St. Mark’s Gospel, Jesus shows great compassion to a leper’s request for healing and cures the man, who then publicly proclaims the wonder of his healing. St. Paul encourages us to imitate Christ in all things. It is imperative, therefore, that we, too, show compassion and love to the outcasts of our day.

La Hermosa Epoca de la Cuaresma en Our Lady of La Salette

La Cuaresma es una época de oración, ayuno y caridad; es como un retiro espiritual que nos llama a renovar nuestros corazones y a renovar el compromiso de vivir nuestras promesas bautismales. Con el fin de ver que nuestra preparación para la Pascua tenga un carácter colectivo, y no sólo una dimensión individual, la Iglesia nos dá ciertas normas para la celebración común de la Cuaresma. Las directrices para la Cuaresma en la Arquidiócesis de Atlanta son las siguientes:

El Miércoles de Ceniza marca el inicio de la Cuaresma, y es un día de ayuno y abstinencia universal.

A través de la Cuaresma, se observan las siguientes normas sobre ayuno y abstinencia:

La abstinencia de comer carne se observa el Miércoles de Ceniza (14 de febrero,) el Viernes Santo (30 de marzo) y todos los viernes de la Cuaresma; en esos días todos los católicos de 14 años en adelante han de abstenerse de comer carne.

El ayuno para todos los católicos de 18 a 59 años de edad se observa el Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes Santo. Quienes deben observar esta norma pueden tomar sólo una comida completa al dia. Se permiten dos comidas pequeñas para mantener la fuerza, según las necesidades de cada persona, pero no se permite ingerir alimentos sólidos entre las comidas.

Quienes se encuentren enfermos, las mujeres embarazadas o que estén lactando, o aquellas personas cuya salud podría afectarse adversamente por el ayuno o la abstinencia, no deben considerarse limitados por estas normas.

Durante la temporada de la Cuaresma, estamos llamados a acoger la penitencia y a realizar obras de caridad que reflejen nuestro deseo de una conversión de corazón. Este año tendremos la oportunidad de contribuir caritativamente al Programa Plato de Arros patrocinado por Catholic Relief Services. Oremos también con fervor por los catecúmenos de la iglesia universal que este año celebrarán los Sacramentos de Pascua.

The Beautiful Season of Lent at Our Lady of La Salette

Lent is a season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving; it is like a spiritual retreat calling us to a renewal of heart and a re-commitment to our baptismal promises. In order to see that our preparation for Easter has a communal, and not just an individual dimension, the Church gives us certain norms for a common Lenten observance. The Lenten guidelines for the Archdiocese of Atlanta are as follows:

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, and is a day of universal fasting and abstinence.

The following fasting and abstinence regulations are observed throughout Lent:

Abstinence from meat is observed on Ash Wednesday (February 14th,) Good Friday (March 30th) and all the

Fridays of Lent by all Catholics 14 years of age and older.

Fasting is observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59 years of age. Those bound by this rule may take only one full meal; two smaller meals are permitted as necessary to maintain strength according to one’s needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not per-mitted.

Those who are sick, pregnant, or nursing, or whose health would adversely be affected by fasting or abstinence should not consider themselves bound by these norms.

During the season of Lent, we are all called to embrace penance and to perform works of charity that reflect our desire for a conversion of heart. This year we have the opportunity to contribute to the Rice Bowl Program sponsored by Cath-olic Relief Services. Also, let us all pray fervently for the Catechumens of the universal church who will celebrate the Easter Sacraments this year.

The Pastoral Associate should be someone who's in love with his/her Catholic faith, has a passion for youth ministry, and is a self-starter; someone who can creatively and energetically grow a pastoral ministry for youth and present the faith in a way that is innovative, exciting, and relevant to young people. The candidate should be proficient with social media and technology, possess excellent leadership skills, be well organized, be a good communicator (both verbal & written), and be able to coordinate and collaborate with other adults in the parish. A degree or certificate in Theology, Religious Education, Youth Ministry, or a similar field is required. Prior experience is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, as is musical ability.
