Physical Education Hi and welcome back to another year of Phys Ed and Sport. We are very excited to be teaching Year 6 this year in your final year of Primary School! Our Thinking Games Curriculum continues this year with the focus again on
developing the students’ tactical thinking skills and technical skill development. To kick start the term for Year 6’s we will be focusing on Invasion Games as part of our Thinking Games for Understanding unit. We will be discovering tactics involved in sports such as Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Aussie Rules Football etc... Through simple games and discussion we will be continuing to develop tactics such as ‘staying on your man’ and ‘moving into space’. Further on in the term we will be applying these learnt tactics into a SEPEP (Sport Education) unit of European Handball. In this unit students will take on a playing role as well as Coach, Umpire, Time Keeper, Equipment Manager or Captain, to further their knowledge of the sport. We look forward to another fun filled and active year!!

LANGUAGE
‘Ciao a tutti!’ (Hello Everyone.) I am Silvia Dai and I’m looking forward to teaching
this year the LANGUAGES - Italian program to the year 6 students.
Throughout the term the linguistic and cultural focus in the LANGUAGES – Italian
program will be:
‘Carnevale e la Commedia dell’arte!
(Carnevale and the Comedy of the Arts characters!)
Students will be completing appropriate language tasks, which reinforce learning,
such as writing simple paragraphs in Italian about the Comedy of the Arts
characters. This topic will lead us to our very special “Carnevale Day,” whole school
celebration in term 2 this year. Further information about this exciting event will be
released next term.
In addition, students will be involved in playing educational games, which encourage
learning!
If you have any queries regarding the LANGUAGES –Italian program, feel free to
contact me.
Mille Grazie!
