Photo By Ken Middleton (file photo) Otis flag football league kicks off Here’s a snap shot look at some of the gridiron ac- tion: The ESD team put a hurting on the Cutters as they pounded out a 37-0 victory behind the arm and legs of Mil- ton “Holly-Hood” Rogers as he just flat out dominated this game. Holly-Hood started it out by catching a TD pass from Leif Oksendahl; he followed that up with a touchdown run, and then he hit Paul Avella for a score. Just to show he wasn’t one dimensional; “Holly-Hood” intercepted a pass and returned it for another score. He then hit Paul with another scoring pass and finished up the scoring with a long touchdown run. In this game he came up with an Oscar winning performance. Pave PAWS won a terrific game as they beat ESD in double overtime, winning 20-14. Pave PAWS led 14-0 at the half on the strength of a 35 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Randy Foster to Otis’ version of Randy Moss, the lanky Rod Williams. Randy then hit Alvin “D-Train” Deane for a one yard extra point pass. With four seconds left in the half, Randy hit Jay “Gutter” Baez for six more, and then hit the D-Train again for the extra point and a 14- 0 half time lead. Both teams played some good “D” as Pave PAWS Randy Foster had a goal line sack and with 2:48 left in the half, they stopped ESD who had a 1st and goal. For ESD, they had four interceptions, one from Eric Wissmann, one from Kevin “Big G” McGlynn, one from Holly-Hood Rog- ers and one from lefty Leif Oksendahl. Finally in the second half the ESD of- fense got going as Leif hit Jim Nason on 3rd and goal for a score. Pave PAWS seemed in control, but with 8 minutes left Holly-Hood picked off a pass and that lead to Leif hit- ting him with a scoring pass to cut the lead to 14-12. Down by two, ESD came up with the clutch play to tie the score as Leif hit Paul Avella for the 2 point conversion. Holly-Hood picked off two more passes, one with 1 minute left in regu- lation but ESD could not convert it into the game winning points. That was due in large part to the defensive play of Josh Day who picked off 2 passes for Pave PAWS, one as the game clock winded down to zero. Both teams had a shot in overtime from the 40 yard line to score, but since neither team could “GET ER DONE,” they went to double overtime which gives each team one play from the five yard line. After Pave PAWS came up with the big stop, Randy Foster found Rod Williams in the back of the end zone for the game winning touchdown. ESD suffered their second straight loss as they ran into the Brian Gunnoud and Sam Pulliam show. Brian is the Air Station quarterback and Sam is one of his key outlet receiv- ers. Brian hit Sam with 2 touchdown passes and a 2 point play, and also found Rob Williams for a touchdown pass and 2 point conversion. ESD scored on the 1st play of the game as Leif hit Holly-Hood Rogers for a score and then passed for another 6 to Big G McGlynn. At the half the Air STA led 22-12. In the second half is was all about the Air Station defense as they shut out ESD and added two more scores. Sam caught another touchdown pass as did Mark Link, Brian also ran in a conversion for a final score of 36-12. Pave PAWS sank the Cutters with a 43-14 victory as their offense propelled them to a big win. This month brings significant changes to the Massa-chusettsMilitaryReservation(MMR).
