AIM:

To install a client operating system using windows xp.

APPARATUS REQUIRED:

PRECAUTION:

Before starting the manual assembly of PC the following precaution help to avoid many

mismap.

1.While the motherboard has to be fitted at a place inside PC cabinet,the locations of add on

cards and drives c hard disk drive,floppy disk drive and CD ROM drive within the drives.

2.The motherboard contains sensitive components which can be easily damaged by the

static electricity similarly handling precaution is also required for cards.

3.Be sure to handle all components with great care.If a small thing like a screw falls on

microprocessor,the main board useless.

ASSEMBLING OF PC:

CONFIGURING THE MOTHERBOARD JUMPERS:

This is the first thing that needs to be done.The main ones to configure are:

1.power supply type

2.CPU external bus frequency

3.CPU to bus frequency ratio

Take the gray ribbon with red dots.

INSTALLING FLOPPY DRIVE:

Insert floppy drive in the upper right hand corner of case.Connect one end of gray ribbon to

floppy drive.

INSTALLING IDE DRIVE:

The IDE drive core hard drives and CD ROM and connect the IDE gray ribbons to drive

themselves and then to motherboard.

INSERTING EXPANSION CARDS:

These are the sound cards,video cards and modem.Each one of them should go into their

correct slot(AGP.DC1) with metal bracket facing left part of case.So that can be screwed them

in.

INSERTING CPU:

Take CPU and hold it with your right hand look on your motherboard with for CPU socket

with your left hand hold the motherboard with a firm grip while inserting your CPU.

INSERTING RAM:

Once the board is inserted within the case,then insert the RAM slowly but firmly on to the

socket. D/MMS can only be inserted it one way simply align the indents formed on lower part of

DIMM.

CONNECTING POWER SUPPLY TO BOARD:

As given in computer manual, the block card of 2 power supply strips will be found in centre

of two connecting power supply outlets on the motherboard.

CONNECTING THE LPT,COM1 AND COM2 CABLES:

On the centre edge of motherboard near the keyboard.

SETTING UP YOUR BIOS AND INSTALLING OS:

1.Press F2->advanced->IDE configuration->verify the correct connection.

2.select boot->boot device priority->1st boot->CD ROM.

3.press F10 to save and exit.

4.insert windows xp looking CD.

5.to delete selectd partition press->enter->press A->press C->enter.

6.enter the product key.

7.After installation press windows key and pause break by simultaneously enter select

hardware->device manager and format the other device.

8.Wait while set up initiatives.

9.This portion of set up has been completed successfully.

TROUBLE SHOOTING:

The trouble shooting section here is not intended as a comprehensive guide to trouble

shooting computer systems but rather as a quick list to point in the right direction.

1.If the hit power button and nothing happened make sure that the you connect the wire

from can power button to right connections an motherboard.

2.If system turn ON,don’t boot or keep unplug everything from motherboard with the

exception of power button wire,video card,memory and processor then test gain.

3.System turns ON,keeps intermittently does not boot up.

Check whether the memory(RAM) chip is installed correctly sealed in its AG1 or PCI slot. If

the system is get up and running but are experiencing some problem installing an OS,here are a

couple of common issue.

System freezes intermittently while installing the OS.Check that the heat sink fan is spinning

and that the sink itself is firmly mounted and parallel to surface of processor.
