Pre- and Post-Award Services

Pre-Award(GDO)

Helps you identify, apply for, and obtain

the funding

Post-Award(Sponsored Programs)

Helps you manage the funding and comply with various policies,

both internal and external

We collaborate closely. By working with us, you can design a program for external funding that complies with guidelines,

avoids conflicts, and provides maximum flexibility.

Grants Development Office

It is the policy of the College that all grants and contracts submitted to external sources must be cleared through the GDO (grants and some contracts) and/or Sponsored Programs or Finance & Administration (most contracts), and approved by the College’s Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR).

Institutional Relations

Grants Development Office

All external grants must be ‘routed’ for relevant approvals at least 5 working days in advance of the deadline: ● Department Chair ● Dean ● Provost ● VP Finance & Administration

Department Chair and Dean must be informed of intention to submit a grant well in advance of the 5 day routing window, particularly if matching funds, course release, equipment acquisition and/or other institutional commitments are anticipated

Final budget is included with routing form; GDO/SP Directors help develop and review budgets in advance, and facilitate institutional routing

Remember – the institution, not the faculty member, is the grant awardee. In order for the College to accept an award, routing procedures must be

followed. Always contact the GDO first thing if you are even thinking you might be interested in submitting a grant, regardless of source!

Grant-seeking:Institutional Requirements

Grants Development Office

Regardless of value, all externally funded awards to SUNY Oneonta for research, training, programs, curriculum development, etc. are fiscally administered by the Research Foundation for SUNY (RF). The RF is a private, nonprofit educational corporation whose primary responsibility is the administration of externally funded contracts and grants for and on behalf of the State University of New York.

Research Foundation for SUNY

Grants Development Office

SUNY Funding Opportunities – Diversity, Innovative Instructional Technology, Centers of Excellence, High Needs, SUNY2020, Conversations in the Disciplines, etc. State budget account, but submitted via the GDO

The College at Oneonta Foundation – private gifts with no restrictions or requirements. College Advancement, Manager of Foundation & Corporate Programs

Contracts for work – e.g., revenue generation for the use of State property or equipment, projects with course credit. Finance & Administration, Director of Business Services

For any and all external funding/resources, always check with the ‘gate-keeper’ GDO to ascertain appropriate fiscal agent and

process!
