EDITORIAL

This year, as we celebrate the rich legacy of Oriental Group of Institutes, which has been created in its 25 years of journey, we also reflect upon the year 2019, that has gone by. The year was a roller coaster ride for the Group, with significant achievements strewn all over the track.

The Oriental Group, spearheaded by OIST, received accreditation for its major courses, entered into MoUs with noteworthy organizations, made head start with Institute Innovation Council approved by MHRD, New Delhi and got recognition by the Governor M.P. for excellence in Education field. It was emerged as the only Institute of M.P. to be given the National Employability Award by AMCAT.

The Students and Alumni also brought laurels to its almamater, like every year, by winning various Technical and Cultural competitions at National and State level. Some students plunged into the entrepreneurial ocean to dig out start-ups, helpful for the society. Their efforts were appreciated by the Chief Minister, Govt. of M.P.

The faculty, felicitated by Dainik Bhaskar and Navduniya media groups also stood as a testimony to the fact that dissemination of information is done quite meticulously, on campus, while grooming the students in a holistic manner. Some of them got their research project approval, in a CRS fund scheme, under RGPV TEQIP-lll as Co PI, adding cherry on the achievement cake.

We move on with more resolutions, to scale new heights and to explore unchartered regions, in the field of education.

Congratulations to Team Oriental for winning a cash prize of Rs 3000 at Bhopal Vigyan Mela 2019... Atharv Kulkarni- IT, IV Year

Atharva Kulkarni, student of 4th year, IT, Oriental College of Technology, has been shortlisted for NIPP (NASSCOM Industry Partnership Program) Mobility Challenge by NASSCOM in Bangalore. Atharva is the youngest founder and CEO at the competition.

Anurag Singh ME-IV year

The future of mobility was taken upon in hand by Anurag Singh of Mechanical engineering branch of OCT along with his team who are incubated at Atal Innovation Centre Aartech in Mandideep and have designed, developed and assembled a state-of-the-art electric bike.

Aakash Shukla CSE- IV year

Aakash Shukla, student of Oriental College of Technology, 4th year CSE Branch along with his three friends started their own start up called OLSO (Rental Service) on November 2017. OLSO is happily running in two cities for now, namely Ranchi and Delhi and will soon cover more cities.

Utkarsh Rathore and Swapnil Toriya, 4th year students of CSE Branch, OCT, have also initiated a start up RV Tech Solutions. Congratulations to all!

FROM THE MCA GALLERY

An essay competition on Constitution was organized in MCA Department in the month of December, 2019. The event was conducted for students in association with MHRD and Govt. of India. Round the year, the MCA Department conducted expert sessions by Alumni, Experts from Industry and Senior Personnel.

FROM THE TRAINING CORNER

The students were geared up for a head on preparation and attended in house training sessions of aptitude, coding, verbal ability and required skill sets, held on campus. Corporate Trainers in house and hired from external agencies took up grooming sessions under CRT program.

Team of highly qualified professionals, including IIT/IIM alumni also enabled the students to realize their potential and get better placements. Faculty was trained by TCS with enhanced sessions. Their constant interaction as organizational partner has strengthened the bond with the Institute. Computer Science and Engineering Department of OCT, has opened ACM Student Chapter, this session to help students in online training.

SPORTS SECTION

Oriental steals the major share in RGPV sports

It was a sports treat for Orientalites when they emerged as winners in RGPV State level Girls’

Basketball and Table Tennis competitions. One student grabbed gold in swimming competition.

In the RGPV nodal level competitions, the Oriental team emerged as undisputed winners in Handball and Kabaddi. The students got 3 gold medals in swimming, 2 gold medals in weight lifting and 1gold medal in Archery competition. In hockey nodal tournament, the team became Runner-ups.

They also made their presence felt by being selected in the RGPV State and National level teams. Oriental students of boxing and power lifting entered both in State and National level teams while Oriental students of Kabaddi, Hockey and Badminton ensured their berth in National level teams.

HOSTEL BUZZ-"A home away from home"

With the advent of festivals, the Hostel life becomes live with decorative idols, puja and offerings with mass feast. The campus gets drained in religious fervor. On Tech Acme, the hostellers enjoyed Fashion Show and DJ Night thoroughly. Shooting of tele series was also conducted on campus Indeed, Oriental hostel lives upto the dictum- “No one else cares for the students like we do”
