Student withdrawal deadline: November 4, 2016
Withdrawal grade request deadline: I generally do not withdraw students after the 45th day of class unless requested
by the student prior to final exam week. Students who fail to withdraw themselves by the withdrawal deadline and
quit attending class will remain on the active class roster and may receive a failing grade.
Final exam date: Final Exam week is December 12 – December 15, 2016.
Course Description: This course presents a broad survey of leadership theory and research as currently practiced in
forma organizations. Includes examination of leadership models, power and influence, team leadership, cross-
cultural leadership, strategic styles of interaction, ethics, leadership skill development, decision-making techniques,
and effective goal implementation.

Required Text Book(s): Leadership in Organizations by Gary Yukl, 8th Edition, ISBN 9780132771863.
Textbook Instructions: New and Used Textbooks may be purchased at the EAC Bookstore or a variety of alternative
sources. The textbook is required.
Required Materials: Textbook, reliable computer access, traditional school supplies.
Email, MonsterMail, and WebStudy
• In this course, the instructor will employ email and/or other WebStudy course tools as a means
of communication or for accepting course work.
• In this course, the instructor will respond to student email via your WebStudy email within approximately 2
days after receipt during regular weekday hours. Email messages received over the weekend will
be answered the next regular school day.
MonsterMail: Students are expected to check their official EAC MonsterMail email accounts for official communication
from the college and the instructor. For students who may not use or check their official email accounts regularly, some
students may choose to forward their MonsterMail email account to an account they use regularly. Students are
responsible for any missed email or notifications. Details about how to forward your MonsterMail can be found at:

Class Attendance: Y ou are expected to actively participate in the course on a regular basis. Log into your
WebStudy account on frequently to complete assignments and check the timeline. Lack of participation can
result in your withdrawal.
Academic Integrity and Academic Integrity Quiz: Students are expected to review the EAC Academic Integrity
Policy and pass the Academic Integrity Quiz with a 100%. The Academic Integrity Quiz can be taken as many times
as is necessary.
All work done for this class must be your own. For assignments, you may use work from books and other materials
if properly cited. Copying from any source without proper reference is considered plagiarism.
Assessment: In order to determine whether this course is meeting its objectives, a variety of classroom assessment
techniques will be used. The purpose of these assessment instruments is to assist your instructor in improving this
course and provided a mechanism for grading. Because this course fulfills a curriculum requirement, you will be
assessed on your ability to communicate both orally and in writing, think critically and demonstrate understanding
of the material.
Make-up/Late Homework Policy: Assignments are due according to the timeline. Late assignments will not be
accepted unless arrangements have been made with the instructor.
Extra Credit Assignments: Extra Credit may be available – see the course Timeline for specific extra credit
assignments.
Grading Procedures and Policy
This course uses the following grading scale.
90 – 100% A
80 – 89% B
70 – 79% C
60 – 69% D
Below 60% F
Students are encouraged to review their unofficial online course gradebook and timeline. Note: The online course
gradebook only reports running average grades for work that has been submitted and graded (It will not report
missing or late homework, or homework that has not yet been graded).
Electronic Grading: Work submitted online may be “auto-graded” electronically and an unofficial grade may
be provided. Grades are not official until the instructor grades, reviews, or accepts the work submitted.
Final Grades: Students may check unofficial grades throughout the semester in their online gradebook. Official Final
Grades are available online in the student’s Gila Hank account.
Acknowledgment of Receipt of Syllabus and Syllabus Quiz: Students are expected to review the Syllabus and pass the
Syllabus Quiz with a 100%. The Syllabus Quiz can be taken as many times as is necessary. The Instructor reserves the
right to withdraw students who have not completed the Academic Integrity Quiz and completed the Acknowledgement
of Receipt of Syllabus Quiz.
