Please do not arrive on any of these holdings unannounced – visits must be confined to the official open days – thank you – the name of the Organic Trust representative at each of these walks is indicated below. The best way to obtain concrete information about an organic enterprise is to see it in operation on-the-ground – all producers are advised to attend at least two farm walks annually – in the case of potential or in- conversion producers, the more farm walks attended the better equipped you will be to manage your enterprises organically Name & Address Enterprises Directions 2012 Open Days Organic Trust Representative Paddy Tobin, Main Street, Johnstown, Co Kilkenny Cereals Field Crops Enter the village of Johnstown from Dublin on the N8. About 3 miles out that road pass Mullahoran Football pitch on the right. Continue past this and take next turn on the right. See Church up this road. Pass the church and come to T junction at school. Turn left there and take the second turn right off this road. The house is the second on the left up this lane. From Dublin take the N3; take Exit 5 for Trim. Take the first exit on the roundabout just before Trim (the bypass road). Take the second exit at the next roundabout and you are on the Longwood Road. 2½ miles down that road turn left – there is a sign for a cul de sac (there is also a sign for County Meath Golf Club). The farm is almost at the end of the cul de sac (if you get to the entrance gates to the golf club on the right hand side you have gone about 100 yards too far).

Proceed down the avenue, keep left to the back of the house where there is room to park

Farm is located halfway between Kilcullen and Castledermot, just off the N9 Dublin/Carlow road. Going south follow this road past the Kilcullen turnoff; 3 miles further on is The Priory Pub/Restaurant on the left. 3 miles after this, take the left Colbinstown/ Dunlavin Road and the farm is 200m up this road on left after turn. Travelling north go past O’Reilly’s Texaco Garage on left; 500m after this is the Colbinstown/Dunlavin Road and the farm is 200m up this road on left.

Beef From Macroom, take the Milltstreet Road (R582). After 2km take the right turn at a four road crossroads (with a farmhouse on the corner and a sign for Coillte on the right hand side). Drive for another half a kilometre to another four road crossroads and turn left (with a new house on the crossroads). Drive another half a kilometre and the entrance is on the right hand side with a stone wall and trees along the avenue.

the business plan is also available from the Organic Trust office. Organic producers who are already either in-conversion or who hold full organic status and whose REPS 3 contracts have expired, can also apply for payment under the Organic Farming Scheme. For these latter entrants, the requirement to complete the training course is waived, however, submission of the Business Plan is a compulsory requirement. Contact the Organic Trust office for details of the training courses which are available to comply with the above requirement.
