ORDINARY MEETING.
FRIDAY, APRIL 4TH, 1884.
HENRY HICKS, ESQ., M.D., F.G.S., President, in the Chair.
It was decided that th e following letter from Sir Richard Owento the Secretary should be entered on the minutes :-

" 24th February, 1884."DEAR DR. FOULERTON,
" Our friend Dr. Woodward has notified to me themost kind and unexpect ed intention of the ' Geologists' Association' to present me with an ' Address' on my resignation of officialwork at the Museum of Natural History.
"Of the recognitions of past services with which I have beenhonoured there are none that I shall cherish in more gratefulmemory than such expression of approval from much-esteemedfellow-labourers in a favourite field of research.
"I have noted down Saturday, 15th March, as engaged to beat the Museum in Cromwell Road, which I learn may be the placemost convenient to the Association.
" Believe me," dear Dr. Foulerton, to be
" faithfully yours,"RICHARD OWEN."
The list of donations to the library since the last meeting wasread, and the thanks of th e Association were accorded to th edonors.
The following were elected members of the Association :James Braik ; S. J. Hawkins; John Knox Laughton, R.N. ,
M.A. ; Joseph Macpherson; Dr. M. Poignard,The following paper was then read 1-
