Order of Service

Opening Prayer

Rev R.D.H. Pughe

Hymn - Jesu, Lover of my soul

Jesu, Lover of my soul, Let me to thy bosom fly,

While the nearer waters roll, While the tempest still is high: Hide me, 0 my Saviour, hide,

Till the storm of life is past; Safe into the haven guide, o receive my soul at last.

Other refuge have I none; Hangs my helpless soul on thee; Leave, ah leave me not alone, Still support and comfort me, All my trust on thee is stayed, All my help from thee I bring; Cover my defenceless head With the shadow of thy wing.

Thou, 0 Christ, art alii want; More than all in thee I find ,

Raise the fallen , cheer the faint, Heal the sick, and lead the blind,

Just and holy is thy name; I am all unrighteousness; False and full of sin I am,

Thou art full of truth and grace.

Plenteous grace with thee is found, Grace to cover all my sin;

Let the healing streams abound; Make and keep me pure within,

Thou of life the fountain art; Freely let me take of thee;

Spring thou up within my heart, Rise to all eternity.

Unveiling and Address

Lt. -Col. C.H. Jones C.M.G., T.D.

Hymn - How bright these glorious spirits shine

How bright these glorious spirits shine! Whence all their white array?

How came they to the blissful seats Of everlasting day?

Lo! these are they from sufferings great Who came to realms of light,

And in the blood of Christ have washed Those robes that shine so bright.

Now with triumphal palms they stand Before the throne on high,

And serve the God they love amidst The glories of the sky.

Hunger and thirst are felt no more, Nor sun with scorching ray:

God is their sun, whose cheering beams Diffuse eternal day.

The Lamb, who dwells amidst the throne, Shall o'er them still preside,

Feed them with nourishment divine, And all their footsteps guide.

In pastures green he'll lead his flock Where living streams appear;

And God the Lord from every eye Shall wipe off every tear.

Prayers

Rev R.D.H. Pughe

To Father, Son and Holy Ghost, the God whom we adore Be glory as it was, is now and shall be evermore

Amen

A Prayer of Commemoration

Almighty and eternal God, from whose love in Christ we cannot be parted,

either by death or life:

hear our prayers and thanksgivings for all whom we remember this day;

fulfil in them the purpose of your love; and bring us all, with them, to your eternal joy;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

An Act of Commitment

Let us pledge ourselves anew to the service of God and our fellow men and women:

that we may help, encourage and comfort others, and support those working for the relief of the needy

and for the peace and welfare of the nations.

Lord God our Father, we pledge ourselves to serve you and all humankind,

in the cause of peace, for the relief of want and suffering, and for the praise of your name. Guide us by your Spirit;

give us wisdom; give us courage; give us hope; and keep us faithful now and always.

Amen.

Hymn - With the sweet words of peace

With the sweet words of peace We bid our brethren go;

Peace as a river to increase, And ceaseless flow.

With the calm word of prayer We earnestly commend

Our brethren to Thy watchful care, Eternal Friend!

With the dear word of love We give our brief farewell;

Our love below, and Thine above With them shall dwell.

With the strong word of faith We stay ourselves on Thee;

But Thou 0 Lord, in life and death, Their help shalt be.

Then the bright word of hope Shall on our parting gleam,

And tell of joys beyond the scope Of earth born dream.

Farewell! in hope, and love, In faith, and peace, and prayer; Till He whose home is ours above

Unite us there! Amen.
